I have denim skirt baggage, since I homeschooled my daughters. I also have denim jumper baggage but I don't see that coming back into style so I can let that go, lol. I actually like denim skirts and I think they're a great basic for warm weather, but I just can't go back to my homeschool co-op days.

Thirkellgirl: "denim skirt baggage" made me smile. I guess that's what I have too, I just didn't come up with an amusing name for it.

April, in Israel denim skirts define how observantly you follow Judaism - it is THAT obvious. Shevia, who lives in Tel Aviv, knows all about denim skirt baggage.

FWIW, I just caved. I have these on order:

Teehee Angie, I had a hunch you'd be looking at the second one... because that one tempted me as well

HAH, Aida. High five, my style sister! It's non-returnable, so it might be passed on if I don't like it. For $37 I was willing to take the chance.

Wow, I'd never have thought there are so many strong opinions on denim skirts, and didn'n know about the whole homeschooling stuff.
Thinking about it, for me a denim skirt is a classic, plus is a great transitional piece, but then, I never see my colleagues wear it.
I bought a pencil style a couple of years ago. It doesn't have the button in the front, but a side zip, so it doesn't form a pouch. Slightly more refined than a classic denim skirt (it's the one in the pic).
This year I decided I wanted something more casual, so I bought a classic denim skirt at Gap, with front button and everything. I decided I don't care about the pouch, and I like it a lot.
I don't do A-line denim skirts, probably because I wore them already in the 80s. Who knows...

I like that denim skirt you posted. I think it would look great with opaque tights and boots. I hadn't seen a denim skirt for years until I saw Angiesome post and thought they looked nice. I'm abit heavy at the moment so don't think the skirt would suit me. I do have a light denim shirt dress I wore a lot last year with boots and jackets. It was above my knee so I wore thick tights. I am a high school teacher in my 40s and thought it was appropriate.

How fascinating reading about denim skirt baggage! I've never seen a denim jumper before either. It Looks very 70s folksy to me.

Chirico, You look great in your pencil denim skirt.

I love denim. I mostly wear jeans, I always have a denim jacket in my wardrobe and I am lost now that my denim shirt fell apart from so much wear. I have had denim skirts in the past and I have a few mini denim skirts in my wardrobe purchased years ago.
I do not want a denim skirt. I find them hard to wear. They twist around and ride up. I'll pass.

SF -- you're so right about how denim skirts twist around and ride up. (They do that on me too, which is probably why I never wore that "perfect" denim pencil with no waist button.)

So, denim skirts twist around and ride up, and when I had the perfect one I never wore it. The fact that right now I want one anyway is an indicator of the inspirational power of the YLF blog and the people on this forum.

Ingunn, I swear it was not my intention to hijack your thread! I'm just finding this topic really compelling.

Now that I can't wear denim to work in my business casual office, I don't know when I'd have the occasion to wear a denim skirt.
