Can we still wear boots/booties/shooties in the summer?

I have a growing collection of such types of shoes, and would like to continue wearing them in the summer, probably just when I have to go out at night (ha! rarely) or to the air-conditioned office a few times a week.

Is it done? I never paid much attention before. Pre-YLF, I wore my tweed cloth Danskos year-round.

Most likely I'll be storing my taller boots, but what about booties and shooties? Like the popular Sam Edelman Pettys, for instance?

Also, how do folks store tall boots over the summer months? I was thinking of boxing them up and putting them in the garage, to make space in my closet.

I don't wear my boots in the summer (makes me very sad); I give them a good cleaning and stuff them with newspapers to keep t heir shape before storing them in boot boxes.

I have boots I wear specifically in the summer I don't see why you can't wear booties and shooties!

I love boots and due to our non- existant UK summers fully intend getting some summer booties and shooties or even a tall summer boot. It was actually the blog by Angie that inspired me.Go for it, I say

I also have a couple of "summerish" boots. Why not ? One sees Hollywood and model types all the time in summer dresses or jeans and boots and summer tops. Give it a try !

I wear caged heel sandals - they're sort of like summer shooties but open.

It's way too hot here to even try on boots in the summer, which makes NAS so difficult. However, last year I found a pair of peep toe booties with a bit of a heel that got lots of wear and were a nice change from sandals. A lot depends on your summer climate.

I love the look but unfortunately it is too hot (and more importantly, too humid) here to wear even short boots in high summer. (I do wear them with bare legs in late spring/early fall though). But if you live somewhere with cooler summers, I say go for it!

ETA: I do wear my yellow gladiators that are sort of sandal boot-ish in the summer.

I think it depends on what the weather's like where you live. I'll be wearing them for a good part of the summer, because it can be rainy and chilly here during the summer month(s).

I put my boots away in the summer, except for peep or open toe styles. I store them in big covered plastic bins in the basement. But summers here are typically in the 90's pretty much every day from June to mid September. In other climates I would certainly wear boots longer.

I'm with the others - it totally depends on your climate. In high summer here I couldn't imagine it. But I do have a looser fitting bootie that I wear barefoot on cooler early summer/ early fall days.

I agree with the others that climate is the main factor.

I only get a few months of summer, and it is very hot when we do. I am actually sad when it is time to put away the sandals! But then, I usually have 9 months or so of boot weather!

Well, in San Francisco it is cold (relatively speaking) in the summer, so I think it is great for boots and booties! For a seasonal look, you can go with light colors.

Where I live in the hot and humid summer, not so much. It's a shame because I love my booties. I put them all away in May.

Excellent question, one I was just pondering myself. Since moving to a climate with less temperature extremes, I think I could get away with boots almost year round. Or at least I am telling myself that to rationalize a couple of pairs of boots I have my eyes on. haha

To answer your question, especially in SF where the mornings and evenings can be cool (just like here) I would say yes! A lighter color, no pantyhose if worn with a dress, etc - all ways you can make them more summer like.

We should do a post of summertime boot wearers in a few months!

I don't go by any dates but just by weather and whether the "bottom layer" would look funny with boots, whether I have any fabber alternatives! And also indoors vs. outdoors. Indoors--say to a movie or restaurant--is air-conditioned & chilly. So, not usually July and August but part of June and part of Sept are fair game.
So if I'm wearing black or gray trousers I would feel free to wear black shooties or booties and even ankle boots them but wear lighter colors and layers up top.

However, I do find I'm eager for lighter colors and outfits by spring and summer,but still like to wear socks as much as I can get away with it, and I run cold, so I'm interested in figuring out some more footwear-- color and/or style--that's lighter in feeling but not a sandal.

I wore boots/booties a lot in the warmer months and loved it!

I may have exaggerated the summer part but there are at least four days when you add in our indian summers probably

I wear short boots year-round, depending on the weather. It's not that hot here. Also I have a pair of open-toe booties with cutouts down the side, which are for fair weather only.

I only have one pair of tall boots (if you don't count wellies, which stand up on their own), and I just lie them flat, like you would in a shoe box, when I'm not wearing them.
