Can this pear wear a tube skirt?

I like the look of tube skirts on others, but I'm not so sure it works on me. My pear qualities seem top pop out!

I don't own any other tops right now (no summer clothes in shops yet) that I think can work, except the one pictured here (tags still attached - not a definite Keep either). I think the only top that I will feel happy in with this type of skirt is like the white one in Angie's post on tube skirts for MOTG. It will have to be a little bit longer in the front than the one pictured here and it will absolutely have to cover my bum.

#1 - Not sure it is very noticable, but the skirt on the left is slightly longer than the one on the right.

#2 - From the side to show what it must cover.

#3 - Polkadot version.

Please comment on proportions, length and whether I should just skip this trend all together.

Are you sure you are a pear? You do not appear to be a pretty pear in these shots. I realize the top is disguising a bit, but I see maybe a slim hourglass with, um....rectangle tendencies!

I think the skirts look nice. In #1, the shorter looks better. The top isn't flattering at all, IMHO.

I think these look fab on you Sanet and the top is the perfect type of volume and shape for tube skirts. I have a slight preference for the polka dot one with the top.

Oh yes, you can absolutely wear tube skirts! Either length looks great to my eye - the longer one maybe a bit more trendy, the shorter one might be a tiny bit more in your sweet spot/length.

I'm another one who says you don't look very pearish here. Either you've hidden it well, or you're not as pear as you thought!

I have a slight preference for the striped skirt But if there's room in your wardrobe for both. . .

Oh my goodness - you look AMAZING in this! Please keep and wear! You don't look pear-ish at all - I'm guessing you're just not used to the hip-hugging skirt. But seriously, you look wonderful!

I'm not totally in love with that top (colour wise) with that skirt though, although I think that the top is fabulous and the right shape for the skirt!

I saw some white with black stripe tube skirts at Mr Price that I want to try on. They were cute.

You look great in it. I was gonna concur with Suz that I didn't see any pear tendencies. Maybe they're there, but very very subtle.

Another "oh yes!" here. I don't see a figure worry at all and I think the skirts are flattering and brilliantly practical for most lifestyles. I also like the polka dot best with this particularly top, but the stripe is every bit as nice.

I think you've found a new silhouette! Incidentally, I wear mine with boots in the winter.

Sanet, I'm so glad you posted this! I am also a pear shape and have been wanting to try wearing a tube skirt. I think it looks fantastic on you! I have always thought - and I could be wrong on this - that a top with an asymmetrical hemline helps to elongate the body, and therefore helps to disguise a poochy belly.

Although I like both, I have a slight preference for the stripped skirt. Maybe it's that the horizontal stripes seem to balance out the width of the top?

I think I will keep both skirts, but will look for suitable and more flattering tops as soon as summer clothes hit the stores here.

I will consider posting a photo to clarify my body type...

Hil. I got the striped skirt from spree.co.za and polka dot one from Truworths. Fabric of striped one is quite a thin t shirt fabric, but think it will be nice and cool in summer. Polka dot one thicker polyester.

Well I think it is decided! The skirts look absolutely fabulous on you! I don't see a pear:) And I love that top. The pattern mix effect may not be everyone's cup of tea but the cut and shape of the top over the slim bottom is very cool.
