Can sandals be altered?

I really like these sandals from Easy Spirit. Problem is the ankle strap is too loose. They used Velcro and in the photo it's as tight as I can get it. My ankles must be undersized because I've had this problem with almost every pair I've tried with an ankle strap. Is this something that can be fixed? I am getting desperate in my search for sandals!

The velcro where the strap attaches shouldn't be much of an issue. You could probably just attach another velcro piece in the correct spot to snug it up. The big problem would be if they were too tight!

ooo, if it was a buckle you could get a new hole but velcro? maybe replace with a buckle? ask a cobbler?

A cobbler can probably shorten the strap for you. Promise you'll wear them without socks though?

LOL! Of course! Does it look like I'm wearing socks in the photo? I know my legs look a little rough. I still need to get my spring pedi, but that's not till next week, right before vacation...

I thought I could just pull the strap further in, but the velcro stops it from going through any further. I think the key is going to be getting that velcro off. I will try to find somewhere to take them and find out what they can do!

well, sometimes it's not as easy as it looks. Sometimes it would pull the whole back of the shoe out of shape. I do my own: I use a seam ripper and take off the original velcro.
Then you pull it where you want it and see how much, if any, it deforms the back of the shoe. If it's okay, just sew the velcro back on with a hand needle. They make little packets of oddball needles, like leather needles. But any sharp needle would do so long as you wear a thimble.

I suppert going to a cobbler. The one I uses can fix all kinds of things (belts, bags, backpacks, shoes of course...), and this shouldn't necessarily be of any problem
