I love that shirt and re-pinned it. I think it would look great on you, and I agree that the more critical color would be that lighter cream up near the face.
I'm like Kari in that lavender is one of the very few cool colors that does not look great on me. It's the desaturation, I think, that washes me out. I would try that shirt on though to see how it looks. I think the color probably plays better with your softer coloring.
