Can I leave the house like this?

Help me ladies! I've been sitting on these aquatalia booties and am trying to decide if they can come out of shoe purgatory (where all my shoes sit until I try them on at different times of the day and with different outfits).

They are comfortable and look great with pants. BUT - can I wear them with skirts and dresses? I know in theory I can, but does it look good *on me*? Are the proportions right with this dress? And while we are at it, I tried layering a shirt under this dress (I'm always cold). My husband thought it a bit wacky and when you throw in the booties, he was on the fence with this outfit.

What say you? Thanks for the help. And these booties need to be a 10 (or maybe a 20!) so please be completely honest!!!

Here goes my honest opinion Christy - OMG the boots are FANTASTIC with the dress!!! Seriously girl - these look fab on you. I like the height of the shaft, the way they fit around the ankle and of course, the details on the boots themselves. If they are comfortable, I would KEEP. Booties with dresses/skirts takes a while to get used to but once you do, there's no going back.

I love the dress but must say I'm not crazy about the shirt layered underneath it. Somehow the neckline doesn't work right. I think the dress on its own with the booties would be k-worthy...and a bright coloured handbag?

I understand though. Yesterday I tried a bunch of variations of footwear, trying to make flat oxfords and a pencil skirt play together, but I was not loving it. But then I was having one of those days when nothing seemed to look good. Maybe I'll try again on a better body image day!

The booties look terrific with the dress - I don't think you should hesitate. I like the shirt under the dress also, especially where it peeks out of the sleeves. It is just too hard to see exactly how the collar lays on my monitor to say for sure. The dress is great on you too. You should feel confident!

Those boots are an easy 10 in my book. I think they are completely versatile and are great with for dresses and skirts and I am imaging just how great with pants.

I love this look. The pattern has so much movement. The boots are a nice touch and look refined yet funky. By all means show off and leave the house.

I love the cuffs of the shirt sleeves peeking out under the dress. Can't tell about the collar placement from here. But wear those booties with confidence!

Oh good! So glad to hear the booties are keepers! Made it out the door but did swap out the shirt for a jacket. The booties were far enough out of my comfort zone, so I decided to play it safe.

Suz - the boots are the Aquatalia "Royal". I picked them up at Nordstrom. They are really comfortable (so far) and I love that they are weatherproof.

I love the boots with the dress but totally understand that it is hard to wear the first few times. The dress is lovely on you. Perhaps if you are not sure of the shirt under, could you try a cardi over or a cami under?

I have these booties and have worn them for a day at the mall, my feet were tired but not sore. This is a very good quality boot, I tried on other shoes/boots while shopping and I could tell when I put these back on that they were well made compared to some of the ones i tried (and I tried some pricier booties). I am spoiled now;-)
As for the dress with booties, I am exactly where you are. I am used to a low vamp pump with skirts and still prefer that look most of the time. However, this totally works and looks very flattering. You are very attractive in this outfit- but then you always look good.

The boots look very good with this dress! The ankle length is perfect to not overwhelm the outfit but lend the right amount of edginess.

Are you wearing the shirt underneath already, is that the black peeking out at the sleeves and the collar? If so, then it's totally doable and looks good too. If the shirt is yet to be added then it would be better if you have a photo of that look too!

They look fantastic with the dress, as they would with any dress on you... now the question is: is it you? I am not sure about this. It doesn't look like your style. But they fit you so well, and look so nice, I would keep them for those times when you feel confident to venture out of your comfort zone and experiment.

Here you chose wisely, a funky printed dress, that the boots ground, so the result is very eye pleasing. Length is perfect too. Try different hem length to play around. They would look awesome with something that has an 80's inspired vibe, such as a dress-tunic, or leggings and a longer top.

Those are fantastic boots! I think they work beautifully with the dress. I think the detail, the curve on the front and the slightly lower back prevents that chopping straight across the ankle look. Though I do have several pairs of boots that do just that. And I still love them, lol.

I want to report that I am completely and utterly THRILLED with these boots! They are very comfortable even with a good 3 1/2 inch heel.

Thanks to Shannon for making me think twice about the shirt under the dress. I swapped it out for a jacket and was VERY happy I did so when a client showed up unexpectedly.

Thanks Claudia for pointing out the pictures of the Duchess - now I know why they are called "Royal"!

Krish, you are absolutely correct that these are a bit off my typical style - at least wearing booties with skirts and dresses. But I'm trying to be a bit more unexpected with my choices!

My only complaint was that the zipper rubbed at my hose essentially ruining them for anything but boot wear. Does anyone else have that problem? I'm hoping it won't happen with an opaque tight, but sometimes I like a sheer hose instead. Any suggestions? Especially disappointing because they were brand new and not inexpensive!

Christy this looks fabulous. I note you removed the shirt. Good move as I feel it "complicated" the look. The boots look great and while they may feel out of your comfort zone they certainly don't look it.
