Can I ask about underwear?

I'm looking for new bras and wondered if it was worth popping in and trying to get them during NAS. I have a very slim back (28/30 dependant on brand) and a larger cup size so am hard to fit. Am I likely to get a bargain or would I be better off waiting until I can get the store to myself?

If you haven't had a fitting in a long while, I think I'd wait until I could go in.

I have a similar situation, narrow rib cage and larger cup size, which are often available only in more expensive brands. One great thing about Nordstrom is that they do carry an extensive range of sizes. If you don't know your best style and exact fit, would it be worth the time and energy for you to have exchange?

i think its worth it.....bra's don't often go on sale. buy a few in a couple of different sizes, then keep the ones that fit. and if needed exchange the ones that don't (so that you still get the sales price), or return.

Nah. Don't bother if you wear that size bra. I wear a 28 or 30D myself and am very hard to fit. My bras are NEVER on sale. I wear Simon Perele in a 30D which is a very narrow cut. It works beautifully. Their styles have a bit of lace because I love pretty undies.

You might but i would recommend going on person. There are a few great bras there that come in small band and large cup size combos. I can also tell you Nordstrom will tailor your bra band for a reasonable cost. I fit my bras to the cup to get the best support, then get their tailoring dept. to take the bra band in a bit. Last year they did such a great job that it actually doubled the useful life of my favorite Chantelle Rive Gauche bra (part of the annual sale.) However it's important to get fitted in person.

I'm 30DD or E and bought the Wacoal that's on sale. After trying it for a few days (and putting it through a wash) I'm very satisfied and just ordered 2 more. However, I agree w/others about fitting and risk of buying online as bra fit is so unique to the individual. The Betsey Johnsons in my size just didn't work at all. If you can pop into a store and try, that would be ideal.

Kari, I saw your rec on tailoring in an earlier thread and thought that's just a brilliant idea. I'm totally trying that next time.

Aliona, it was a last ditch effort during the 2014 sale to try to get my long time favorite bra to fit better in the cup, and I'm soooo glad it worked. My sales associate works in lingerie/intimates normally and helped me get fitted to the right cup size but too big of a band, and brought in alterations to see if they could improve the fit. It was a beautiful tailoring job and the bras lasted several months longer than normal with better support.

Kari, I am very, very grateful for your advice: I really want a minimiser style for items that drop from the bust like the dress Carter recommended. But the lowest minimisers seem to go at my Nordstrom is 32 band. Today I was able to get a 32D taken in thanks to your tip. For $12 I may have just found my best fitting bra ever. Thank you!

I bought the Freya Decos; one fit and the other in the same size but slightly different style did not. I had to go up a cup size in my previous cup Freya cup size but the band size (28) was as before. I had ordered the Freya Deco citron bra that went on sale a few weeks ago just so see if a 30 might fit. Nope. Returns are so easy and supportive 28s are so difficult to find that I'd take the risk.

I recently made a foray into the lingerie store and would highly recommend the Panache Jasmine or Fantasie Natalie. Excellent support and comfort. I wear a 30FF or 30G these days so a good fit is hard to find. A friend who owns a lingerie store said the Jasmine is one of her best sellers and personal favorite.

Does Nordstrom carry any 28 bands? That's what I wear unless the style is cut particularly small, and I've never found any there when I've checked online. I have lucked into a few narrow-fitting 30 DDs at Rack. Mostly I'm stuck ordering online or going to the expensive bra boutique near my house.

I had never thought of having bra bands altered, so I will have to keep that in mind. Thank you for the tip! I do wish Nordstrom would carry 28s (or more 28s if they're always sold out).
