Can anyone figure out this "tuck"? Updated with trial photo :)

I've been trying to figure out how to wear my pencil skirts that are just a little big in the waist with a tucked top. Haven't been successful. Then I found this look on Pinterest and thought I was on to something......but I can't seem to get it right. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any and all help!

I haven't tried it but it looks like she pulled the front fullness of the tee together in the center and tucked. The sides and maybe the back looked folded under a bit.

Joy, I thought so too but I can't seem to make the gathered section touch smoothly. It leaves a hump where the tuck is.

It looks like she knotted it and flipped the knot under.

I wondered about knotting too because of the pleating look. If a knot would be too bulky, maybe rubber banding and tucking would work.

Ceit that's a great idea! I'm thinking now that maybe instead of a knot I might try a small rubber band to hold the gather without the added volume of the knot itself. Should lie much smoother. Hmmm. I'll definite give this a try!

The weight of the fabric may have something to do with the bulkiness, also. Her top looks like a light weight silk. Is your top a heavier fabric?

I pinned this same photo awhile back and have not been able to figure it out either. Time to try a rubber band here too! I'd love to see photos and follow-up tips if you get a chance to try it.

Ok. Here's my version of this tuck. I think it works but suggestions and comments welcomed!

Grab a section and wrap it with a rubber band OR if the fabric is very lightweight you can knot it, but then you need to give it a twist before tucking the ends up underneath. That's how to get the fanned pleating

Aida, I think you are right about the twist. I will try it again and follow your suggestion.

I was going to say I don't think it is a rubber band at all to much bulk but, I think that she might have gathered the section and used a large flat pin to gather the material and tucked it in.
