I bit the bullet and bought a couple of shells at Nordstrom, similar to this one (the actual ones are not on the website):

They are fun and I got two colors that will mix in with a lot of my wardrobe. But they don't come in petite, and I've just realized (!) that a huge factor in my too-much-cleavage issue is just that the clothes are not made for my frame, which has a shorter shoulder-to-exposure length, if that makes sense. Can a tailor take up the shoulder seam to shorten the length of the "strap" easily? Has anyone done it?

It almost looks like something I could do, as I do sew, but I'm nervous abour ruining a real silk item. I do have a good tailor, at least...
