Can a "pear" pull this off

I am really loving this fit and flare look, and I have seen a couple of pieces that have really caught my eye. Just a bit concerned if I should be avoiding it as a boardering plus sized pear.

I would think that would look great on a pear shape. Wouldn't the A line of the skirt be perfect for the pear bottom?

Well, I'm a pear and I'd wear it in a heartbeat. It's beautiful. I think fit and flare dresses are great, actually, because there's no need to size up to fit the hips, so it's more likely that the top part will fit right.

I think it would be us "apples" who would need to be very careful with this. If the fit was right on this it would show off your lovely waistline.

I think is is such a gorgeous dress! More than likely will work for a pear shape, may possibly be dependant on where the waist hits you. That is a huge struggle for me with dresses, waists in the wrong spot. Can't wait to see you in it!

I firmly believe these dresses were made for pears. This is definitely a do for you. The flare of the skirt magically makes your waist look smaller. Go for it!

I tried this one and looked pregnant (hence no keep return post). and i know I did as DH agreed with me. So I just thought it might be the shape of the dress. Sound more like an issue of where the waist hits.

Love A-lines on hourglasses and pears! You have a great, teeny waist, so if it fits the shape will be very nice. I think it depends on how dramatic the dress's bust-waist-hip ratio is.

Fit and flare dresses are lovely on pretty pears. I think it's worth giving the dress a try. If it doesn't work, it's not that this style of dress won't look great on you, it's how the garment is constructed. If that makes sense. Or as others say, it's not you, it's the clothes. I was trying on pants yesterday where, even 2 sizes bigger, wouldn't work on me. Still too tight in the thighs but huge in the waist.

A lot of pears would wear this. I'm a pear and for myself, I'm a little wary of the tuck gathers at the waist on the back and front. I prefer darts for a more princessy line. To my eye this isn't quite fit and flare, as the gathering means it won't skim closely in that area but might puff out a little adding visual bulk.

Apart from that I love the wide A-line hem, and the print. It is a beautiful dress, why not try it and return it if it doesn't work?

I'm a pear shape and would probably snatch this up if I needed a dress. I find a-lines work well on my shape. The only issue I keep an eye out for is the length since I am on the shorter side.

The white dress doesn't flare as much...that may be why it wasn't as flattering. I'm not sure I would even call that one a fit and flare.

The one you are asking about would look great on a pear. And like the others said, don't give up on a style if the first one you try doesn't work. There are often other factors in the way it is cut or constructed that may make some examples of that style work for you, while others don't. If I like a particular look, but the first try looks like a disaster, I tend to keep trying that style every so often anyway. (I'm stubborn that way.) Sometimes, eventually, I will find an item that works. And I usually find that the difference is because I've found an item that is proportioned slightly different from the others.
