I am not an advanced knitter or crocheter. But I am bored of hats and scarfs can somebody give me idea what I can try next? In novice to intermediate level?Pretty please

Check out the archives of Kitty magazine- the patterns are free online and have the level marked on each. They have some unusual stuff! Are you on Ravelry? That's another great place to search for patterns because you can filter all sorts of ways.

I think you should try a garment next! A baby sweater would be a good idea - you get to learn/practice the parts of making a sweater but it's a lot smaller and faster than an adult sweater. Plus they're super cute.

Try filtering the patterns by your skill level, then what type of yarn you usually use, then pick a category other than hats and scarves...it is huge, but that's the benefit of it.
You could try arm warmers, socks or leg warmers, a sweater or a purse.

If you can do a hat, you can do a top-down sweater. Barbara Walker's classic book is well worth picking up used, and she walks you through each step so you can make something that actually fits the first time.

Do you live where it gets cold? How about some mittens? Very useful, but also satisfying because they're small.

Some baby sweater patterns to get you started... Many of them are free so you could download the patterns and look at them before committing.

These two free patterns come in all sizes from infant to adult! (So you could make matching ones for you and baby…). They’re part of a simple knits collection that has tutorials, so would be good to learn sweater construction on.

+1 to ravelry. plus many of the patterns are modifiable depending on your skill level--adding or subtracting cables, tweaking proportions while knitting capes, etc.

i'm having difficulty diving into anything with sleeves or a fully fashioned arm hole.

I've made the Elizabeth Zimmerman baby surprise jacket several times. I think it's fun. But I recommended it to a friend who's an experienced knitter and she thought it was hard. YMMV.

Yes, Ravelry is great. What do you want to have when you are done? Mitts or mittens, a shawl, slippers? Or if you want to try apparel you could start with a vest (quicker no sleeves). Or baby clothes like Diana suggested. I would decide what kind of object I want and then do a search on Ravelry for a pattern you like and then just go for it.

You could do a sweater. Top-down or bottom-up, doesn't matter. You'll eventually want to try multiple construction methods anyway. If you have Elizabeth Zimmerman's books, you can just follow along. If you don't have any of hers, I highly recommend you get one or two (your library might have them).

I'm not really a knitter - only scarves and hats so far. This little hat for my friend's grandson was kind of fun.

I am an experienced knitter but have found the fit on many patterns to be problematic, so have given up on sweaters.

an afghan would be a nice idea, there are tons of patterns on Rav or just go to your library if you are lucky there could be knitting books there with good patterns.

one good thing on Ravelry you can filter a pattern and see who made it and what it actually looks like when it's made and what people think,

Chadya, fit is personal. The pattern is basically a map and you get to decide which route to take, personalizing for your own fit preferences. I wouldn't give up on sweaters. Just use your gauge swatch and calculator to figure out where you want to detour from the pattern.

thanks for the input, fit is personal but when the garment does NOT fit you and you followed it, it's super annoying.

I have been knitting for longer than I care to say

and know pretty much my way around, but decided I don't really want anymore wool sweaters. The last project was a DUD, so it's knitting to enjoy the process now.

at my age if it's not fun, I am not doing it, goes for knitting, golf whatever
