Pinterest is at it again.
They select a group on pinners to try out a change - with no permission or explainable reasoning given to those pinners.
I had to go through the first, "We thought you would like this pin" test group - fighting back by saving a copy of my pinners and then unfollowing them all.
With no pins from my friends showing, all the "We thought you would like" pins flooded my board. I then started flagging each one they pinned for me and explained how creepy I thought it was for them to do this. Pointing out why the pin they chose did not resemble my preferences at all. The support staff was very sloppy and unhelpful. Resistant and even mean.
This went on for weeks, until general outrage forced an end to the posts by Pinterest.
Now, I know the employees have to earn their keep and come up with good ideas. But when the ideas aren't in line with the goal of the site - individual choice, I feel trampled on.
Pinterest has now lost me. I have deactivated my account.
Their new "idea" changes the notification display of pinners. I don't see what was pinned, only the board it was pinned to. So if I want to see which of my pins was repinned I have to go to the board and hunt for it. Again, not my choice. Again, someone's idea of how to MAKE me look for other pins.
I complained, and was told I was part of a test group and could not opt out, so I deactivated. I am so relieved not to be fighting with the youngsters earning their keep.
Marketers on Pinterest will only be selling to each other at this rate.
