My first ever YLF post to look back at 2025. What a year it’s been. A large part of my year has been consumed by treatment and recovering from treatment for early stage breast cancer. Two surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation. I am still receiving treatment but it’s much easier to take and I am feeling stronger every day. My word of the year was ‘embrace’ and my colour was ‘navy’. My strongest manifestation of embracing something is how I handled the hair loss journey. Everyone is different. For me, it wasn’t a traumatic experience and I went with it. I started with getting a short haircut right before chemo. Once my hair started to fall, I had it clipped short. More recently, now that it’s growing, I had it cleaned up and asked the barber to do a little design. Photos below. You’ll see that I started with a lot of hair that was hopefully used to make a wig. I think I am going to keep it relatively short for a while. I’ll decide once it starts growing a bit longer but I find shorter hair liberating, for the time being anyway. I also spent a lot of time thinking about my style (more on that later) and reading and enjoying your postings. Thank you, Angie for making this venue available to us, and to all of you for the inspiration. Happy new year!
