I'm pretty hard on my scarves, always jamming them into a ball to tuck away in my handbag when I get too warm. Also, I don't really have the space to properly store them all nice and neatly folded. I have them rolled up in a large wicker basket. So until such time as I have a custom walk-in closet, I will probably not be investing in designer high-end scarves.
What's more, I don't know if I'm a silk scarf type of gal. I never say never, but those that I have tried (typically gifted to me), I never wore. I find them too ... slippery?
Scarves are absolute necessities living where I live. I wear them 3 seasons - summer it's too hot. My scarf collection includes lighter cotton scarves, cashmere, and wool. I do not care for thick bulky winter scarves because I have a short neck. I'd rather wind a long rectangle fine-wool scarf around my neck several times. I do not care for synthetics because it makes my hair stand on end.
Price range is all over the map... I have several street scarves purchased in NYC... solid color, thin pashmina-type... cost a couple of dollars. Same kind you can buy at the mall at those cart vendors, for more $. They get runs eventually, but are easy to replace.
Otherwise, I really like BR for scarves, and that is about the price range I'm used to spending, if I see a scarf somewhere else like Nordstrom's. Of all the scarves I own, I have a track record of wearing the BR scarves the most frequently, and Nordie's scarves second most frequently.
Yes it is just a rectangle of fabric BUT scarves always fit, and if you invest a little $ (and skip the street carts), they will last for years and years.
