Hi ladies,

Saw this top at Club Monaco yesterday and fell in love with it - I love the lace, the shape and the scalloped hem. But I think it hits me in the wrong spot (right at my hips - the widest part of me) and I love the shape of the sleeves but I feel that the length they hit me at contributes to making my top half look shapeless. Now I'm reconsidering, though. Do you think I could make this work with a pencil skirt or skinny jeans? I really love it.

It is a gorgeous top and I do not see any fit issues with it. It hits you on the top of your hips, not at their widest point; and besides, you are very slim.

I love it on you! The lace plays nicely with your hair. I think it will look super with a pencil skirt or cropped skinny pants.

I like it on you a lot, and don't see a problem with the length and where it hits. In my experience that's a great top length for skirts, both pencil and fuller styles. I also sometimes like to wear that length top with skinny and high-waisted jeans and columns of color. The wavy hem helps break up the horizontal line where it joins the body also.

The only thing I'd test was whether you could wear jackets with it without the lace sleeves getting tangled or creased, since I pretty much need to wear jackets with everything occasionally.

So , so pretty on you. And just because it sits at your hipline , it doesn't mean it's not good on you . Does it have some movement or flow when you move around? In fact, I see it highlighting your curviness, which is very flattering to my eye. I love this - and it would be just perfect dressed up or down....like the way you are wearing it in these pics.

Yes, keep it. it looks like it would need to be longer to hit on your widest hip spot, but you could always wear it with a low contrast colored skirt or jeans and there would not be a line, or wear it with a longer tank or cami underneath. The lace is beautiful.

I love this on you and don't think it hits in the wrong place--if it were a few inches longer, maybe. The scallop hem is beautiful and interesting enough to break up any perceived hard line. I think it is a great shape, and the lace looks soft enough to drape nicely, but you could always consult with a tailor if you want to adjust the fit.

I love the softness of the lace paired with the harder-edge look of the jeans. I hope you are able to track one down.

I also hope it is available still. I have two lace tops (one ivory one more white); they are workhorses for me. I love that the top you have found has a 3/4 length sleeve. Does it have a lining or do you need to buy a Cami or something to go under?

I am very sensitive to tops that end at an unflattering point and I'm way more hippy than you, so I have to say I see no issues at all with that length. I think it's a great top on you!

The top is absolutely gorgeous on you. I think the length is fine and it in no way makes you look shapeless. I would personally pair it with bottoms that are at least slightly high waisted (pencil skirt, tube skirt, high waisted flares, crop pants).

I always think the same thing with tops that hit right at my hips (also where I'm widest) but really, when I look at this on you I think it looks great. I suspect we all have a tendency to focus in on a perceived flaw and MAGNIFY it in our minds. In this example your hips look totally proportional and the blouse looks fantastic. Oh, and not shapeless at all.

So of course now that I have decided that I love this top and may have it, there are none left in all of Ontario!! Seriously. They all disappeared in one single day. I spent 1.5 hrs on the phone today, and tracked down one in Grey, and the solitary one in ivory - with a lipstick stain on it! I have put both on hold to pick up Monday. Why, oh why, did I put them back when I found them Friday night?

Does that ever happen to you while shopping? You hem and haw about something, and suddenly decide you *must* have it?

I do think that if it is meant to be you will find it again.
Last year I missed out on a scarf in a particular colour and low and behold one appeared recently in the store out of the blue!

So I tracked down this top and bought it. I also bought its charcoal grey sister, an architectural crepe v-necked number, a silk and satin dressy crop top, a silky dressy long sleeve tee and two merino fitted sweaters with eyelet collars (!) Can you guess they were having a big sale? And they were all in my favourite wardrobe capsule colours (ivory, black, blush, dove grey.) Club Monaco, why do you always do this to me?
No more shopping for me. But on the upside, i have a splendid springtime capsule when spring finally decides to come (-16C and almost a foot of snow here today. Really.)

So glad you found it! I want one now! I am petite and pretty short waisted, but I see you list those as well, so that gives me hope I might be able to pull it off.
