Buy or Pass on Tweed Summer Jacket ETA: Another Option

I'm trying to acquire some lightweight casual spring/summer jackets and came across this one recently. I wonder, do you think it looks too "rug" like? Thinking of those rag rugs often used in kitchens and cottage style homes. I kind of like the fact that it does remind me of that, but then again, I don't want people making "rug" comments to themselves either. It has some studs on the shoulders that are hard to see in the image - not sure if that's too immature for me or not. I'm over 50 now. It is a juniors jacket but I sometimes shop the juniors for inexpensive fun things. This would be worn to cover up a sleeveless tank after a day at the lake or beach. Probably worn with faded cut offs as shown. What do you think?

ETA: See below, I opted for another linen blazer that seemed a safer bet for me.

I guess I'm not a fan of the fringe, so it's a pass for me.

For the type of look you are describing, I can see a white/cream knit moto jacket even with that twill/tweed texture you are looking for?

What you describe sounds perfect! I say go for it. I passed up an interesting jacket one time and bought something more bland instead, in hindsight I regretted it. Sounds like you have a good strategy for adding some interest to your wardrobe.

It seems pretty fun for what you described! My main hang up with juniors clothes is that there is typically a major lack of stripe matching across seams, which is a pet peeve of mine. If it is an in store purchase all the better as you can pick the garment that has the best pattern positioning...

Kalli, you know it was interesting to see a fringe on a lot of simliar style jackets (in women's dept. in all different price ranges) recently. I've hesitated on it too - but I keep going back to thinking about this one, so...maybe I just have to try it. The price certainly makes it a painless purchase.

The fringe is small and I like the beachy colors. Worth a try.

Thanks everyone - I think I'm going to opt for this one instead. Still lightweight, linen but more structured and maybe a safer bet. And at the same price. The other one on closer inspection had studs all the way around the back of the shoulder too and I had a feeling I wouldn't like the feel of that - I'm fussy about things like that. This one is a beautiful bright blue color and other reviewers gave it high marks.

good choice. I think those chanel style/material jackets are soooo hard to style without being frumpy. But I am a pair and a large square on top does not help

Hmm. Too bad about #1 - I quite liked it. But I can really understand why studs on the back would be a no.

jayne, I was having trouble with the idea of a boxy fit too. Suz, yes, I think I fell for the "beachy" colors and vibe of that one - but I will keep on the lookout for something similar in color but maybe a better style for me in the future.

The blue is such a pretty color, it will look nice with your camel belts.

I liked the colors too. So sand and sky and water. Sometimes.I can break down what it is I'm.drawn to and try to create the same vibe with pieces that work better. Have fun summerizing with the blue jacket!
