These are supposed to be the "new" ballet flats. To me they have a school shoe kinda vibe about them, if you're not that attached to them I would say not.
I've been seeing more and more of this exact kind of shoe lately and styled right I think it looks great, kind of 1940's sporty. I am presently keeping my eye out for a pair at the thrift stores to expirement with the look. What were you thinking of wearing them with?
Additional: The Navajo Cognac seems to look more current to me. I could just be that its the color I've been seeing the fashion-forward gals wearing so my eye is more accustomed to it.
I like this kind of shoe in general, but this one in particular veers a little too much into old lady territory. Something about the vamp or sole. I say keep looking for something similar. Or try it on--maybe I am wrong. Sometimes it's hard to tell from the shoe alone.
I feel compelled to be honest here and say that this colour in combination with this particular style is just not doing it for me.
That said, IF you have the wardrobe where these shoes COULD slot in easily and add a cool retro/vintage edge, they could be worth it. If you have a more conservative style of dress, I say pass.
As most others mentioned, I think it will depend on how you style them. As for the item itself, they're just not my favorite. I don't love lace-up oxfords to begin with, and these do seem a bit old-ladyish.
At first glance, given their color and shape, these do resemble the crepe-soled taupe oxfords that I see on every third old lady around here (see http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_1.....ckType=G16 ). I think you would have to be sure any outfit worn with them was ultra-fab in a hip, edgy way, since "classic" paired with these would run the risk of looking dowdy.
EG, remind me if hip and edgy is your usual style?
Will totally depend on how you style them. I think if paired with an A line skirt and blouse there will be an old lady vibe but something like skinnies and moto jacket could be a winner x
I think they could look fab and stylish or old ladyish depending on what else you wear, if the rest of your outfit is hip and fun then they will look fab and stylish too! comfy too, and that can't be bad!
I totally agree that it is in the execution. It's like the Chanel-like jackets that Angie just wrote about : they can look really matronly or supercool. There seems to be no in-between.
For some reason, I picture Medusa in these and she ALWAYS looks cool.
hm, i agree that whether they work will depend on how you style them. i don't see them working with walkshorts as you suggested but maybe under bootcut jeans?
I love all the different oxfods this year. These are not my favorite. I say if you're not thrilled pass on them and keep looking since there are lots of options.
