Buttonfly jeans - why?

Anyone a fan of buttonfly jeans? I can't figure out the appeal. I always miss one button, or one always comes undone, and when I discover it I feel a fool. I used to love my buttonfly Levis, but lately my fly is definitely *not* buttoned.

I'm more or a velcro fly kinda gal. JUST KIDDING.
I had a pair of Levi's button fly's in college because I thought they were so cool. (I also had high top Nike Airs--how's that for a feminine look?) Frankly the button fly adds a lot of bulk at a place I don't need it!

I still have a couple pair that button (Lucky and Miss Sixty). I don't seem to mind either way, though the rise is low enough on those that there are only two buttons involved.

How does buttonfly make more sense for a guy than a zipper? I guess you can't get stuck in a buttonfly, but it's a lot more work to do and undo.

I used to wear buttonfly jeans a lot because my zippers were always coming down! Can't find buttonfly jeans I like now, so I just deal with zippers.

I think besides the mechanics for men, I think it's just a nostalgic thing. Levi's originally had button flies because zippers hadn't been invented yet!

I love 'em. They give at all the places where other jeans pull on me. Maybe it's a hippy (body type not fashion style) thing?

I loved button fly 501s--- but if something disrupted the cadence of my buttoning I'd forget one.
Like Malina I think they have some extra give. And I like the look of them.
I know there were some that would cut the flap off the fly area (on 501s) to expose the buttons on the fly for the looks.

I hate it when the zipper pull "handle" gets stuck in the fold at the bottom of the zipper travel in jeans---particularly with my kids' pants.

I have Lucky button fly jeans and really like them. I've had no problem with the buttons. I've had zipper jeans where the zipper becomes unzipped even though they are not tight. Given a choice, I'll take the button fly.

I have spoken to blokes about this before, and *apparently* button flys are more comfortable. Our indoor plumbing systems are so very different.

I had a pair of white flare-leg jeans with an exposed button fly from Old Navy, and somehow I always thought the button fly made them sexy. Especially with the little strappy sandals and tank tops I used to wear pretty much every day when I lived in the desert.

Fortunately I don't have any photos of myself wearing them, so I can fondly think back on them and maintain the illusion. I'm sure the buttons added bulk in a rather unflattering place...

i loved button fly when my tummy was flatter and there were fewer jean cut choices. i dated a guy who wore the same jeans only in a larger size. apparently even the rips were in the same places. he almost hurt himself putting on my jeans.
