What is the difference between a Butch Style and Androgynous Style? Or are they the same?

I think Butch is a negation of the feminine and Androgyny, in a woman, is an embrace of the masculine in order to accentuate the feminine.

Androgenous suggests identifying as neither (or both) male or female, so any outfit that at first glance could be either masculine or feminine, whereas butch suggests a very clear masculine identity which would only overlap with androgeny when on a woman, on a man it is within the 'expected' spectrum of clothing (although may suggest a more macho element - but would need to be more extreme)

I think.....that made more sense in my head....

Androgynous style, is either dressing like a women or men. It's doesn't determine the sex, and yet you plays with accessories. I think Andrej Pejic and Tilda Swinton represent the Androgynous style pretty well.

Butch style is more macho dress, regardless of sex or gender identity. Little baggy, sneakers, tanks and no accessories?

Is butch not a derogatory term? I'm just curious, I don't think I've ever heard anyone describe themselves that way, but maybe that's just my circle.

I'm not sure?? I check online and some people are looking for that style of clothing....."butch style or butch look" So that's why I wanted to know the difference.
I thought the term Androgynous should fit for all uni-sex style.

What Vildy said at the top made a lot of sense to me. I think butch probably has a negative connotation.
