Hi,
I am successful entrepreneur, but I am also a rebel and a punk. Therefore, my style combines elegance with elements of punk style.

The main elements of my style are:

Stylish mohawk haircut
Elegant shirt, often with cufflinks
Nice jacket with a few pins
Studded belt and wristband
Diesel Jeans, usually ripped
STeel toed Doc Martens Boots

Since I have received a lot of positive comments on my style, I am also thinking of turning this into my company's dress code, as a trademark for creative thinking.

If you truly want your company to reflect creative thinking, I don't think boxing them in by imposing your particular style of creativity on them is a great idea. If someone is uncomfortable with this specific style it won't seem creative on them at all - just miserable.

I have two grown sons. One has waist-length hair a face full of piercings and a sort of grunge style. And he's gorgeous. My other son sports a blue mohawk, plaid pants, moto jacket and chains here and there. And he's gorgeous. But they each have their own way of expressing themselves and it would be horrible for either of them to have to fit into the other's mold.

I also think you need to consider if your look aids your business, many companies do impose a dress code with the hope of solidifying their brand identity.

A hard and fast rule about piercings or hairstyles may be too strict but encouraging creative dress even if it is skewed to a particular aesthetic may be beneficial.

I think it depend on what your business is, too. If we're talking tattoo shop, I think this would be perfect (i.e. "dressy/creative punk"); if we're talking cell phone company or the likes, you may end up alienating and turning off hardworking and talented potential employees if the dress code is too strictly punk, just because you tend to have a greater variety of people who would work in that type of industry, you know?

I can see encouraging creativity in dress being a great thing, and very freeing to many people, but dictating one type of dress is kind of taking away the creativity and personality of the individuals.

I agree with the others - you don't want to dictate too rigid a dress code, but I think you could certainly encouage "creative business casual" or "creative casual."

However, if you want to come convince my husband to dress the way you do (except for the mohawk), I'd be all over that.

I love the idea of thinking outside of typical corporate dress, but like others said making a dress code stifles creativity even it involves mohawks. Better to give employees free rein to come up with their own interpretations. Sounds like a fun place to work!

I feel like you alienate people who don't conform to your dress code. I think going for a creative dress code would work better x

I absolutely agree with everyone else !

If you institute a "dress code" to others, then you disallow for "creativity". The others are "creating" you are "imposing". Think about how it will sound if your employee gets a compliment and the response is , " Thanks, it is the company dress code. " That would really put me off.......and make me think that the "creativity" of the company is a hoax.
