Love your comments Angie! You at such an expert at finding the good in all body types.....the rest of us would do well to learn from you!

The difference of opinion is interesting.

Maybe it's because Angie has so much more experience with different body types actually trying the clothes on in person rather than photos? So she has a more multi dimensional view of how they'll read in real life?

see update at the top..

Love it in the smaller size! Return the ruffled one, it’s purpose is duplicated by this one and #4 is so much better and more you.

#4 looks great! Love the column of black underneath and the long pendant. Dramatic and elegant, great mix of diagonal and vertical lines.

I so agree with you that things can look flattering, but still not feel right for one's style. I think that's exactly the territory cardi #1 falls into.

It looks wonderful. Yay! Instructive conversation and detailed comments from Angie too. I think I'm 5 foot 1 also Chris. Always said I was 5 foot 2 when younger but think I've shrunk slightly in height.

Loving number 4. It looks great, stylish and flattering.

The updated size in photo #4 looks super. I've a hunch anything you'd want to wear the ruffly one in you'd just as well pair with the one in #4 so it may get orphaned, especially if you're already thinking it may be too sweet. I vote send the ruffle cardi back and just keep #4

Isabel, you're right. I have the added advantage of dressing a body type like Chris in person. Photos can distort proportions.

YAY, Chris. The smaller size of the ombre cardi - #4 - is KILLER PERFECT. You have really found your style and blossomed this last month. It's ALL coming together. WELL DONE.

Wow! Now I LOVE the updated size cardigan! Amazing what the correct size (and some styling) will do!

Love the smaller size you are wearing on #4, what Toban said. The ruffled one can go back. You found your burgundy cardi.

Love the new size on you! I liked the ruffled one as well, but as you stated in your update, I thought it was maybe a little too "pretty" for your overall style. But it was fun to at least try on the ruffled one. It helps you refine your style when you try on different things that you wouldn't ordinarily buy.

Love #4. I also like how you have styled it. I did not notice that the cardigan ended at your upper thighs because it is drawing the eye up and down.
I always look at pictures of myself and zero in on my upper thighs which are the widest part of my body. Does everyone look at me this way? Probably not.

Thanks Toban, La P, Isabel, Aida, Aquamarine, Joy

Jenni NZ agree about Angie's comments being so instructive. I ALWAYS learn something from her comments and she does it in a way that make you feel so positive! Lots of fabbers also offer very instructive comments. Yeah that shrinking thing seems to happen with age unless you do a lot of yoga. One of my yoga instructors said she gained more than an inch in height during the time she was studying to be a yoga instructor.

Angie great point that you see all the various body types IRL without the distortion of selfie photos. Thanks so much for the kind words, as always.

Gigi you nailed it, I do love to try on styles that are a little outside my norm. It's one part playing dress up and one part looking for new ideas.

Style Fan I think you hit on something really important here. Think about what you see when you approach someone on the street. If it's a friend you are mostly looking at their eyes, not some specific body part. If it's a stranger maybe you look at a body part but more likely you focus on the overall appearance to enjoy their outfit (or not), or some other people-watching thing, but it's less about body parts than the whole. Others really don't see what we see ourselves. In the typical body-criticism thing most of us do, we hone right in on something we don't like when we look at ourselves, and a good deal of the time it's something no one else sees! . I've been trying very hard to retrain my thinking about this and give that criticism thing a rest, with some success, but it's not an easy thing for most of us that live in cultures where it's "the norm". My view is to think about how flattering an outfit or garment is, do the analysis, then wear what you like!

Oh, YES. I love this cardigan, it's unusual. the smaller size is fab on you.

I’m totally late to this, but I absolutely agree with the sized-down second one. I’m sensitive about emphasizing hips/upper thighs too, and I think the proper size creates a better length!
