I just read this post that says bug jewelry is the latest trend. I have a butterfly ring that bought in the 70's that originally had opals. The bad thing about opal is that it breaks easily so after two replacement stones I just put it away. Years later I had amethysts put in and wore it for a while but then other pieces took its place. I think it is time to bring it out again.

That is so cute! A definite wear, imo I think I have a pair of ladybug earrings around here...I'll see if I can find them.

Yup, earrings. I have enamelled silver (pink, taupe and blue) butterflies. And while not bugs but certainly creepy-crawly, a pair of black-enamelled green-eyed gold spiders. Unfortunately most of my jewellery is packed well away these days---too dicey around the baby for me.

ManidipaM, I always thought butterflies were bugs. I think they count anyway.

I suspect that people have different definitions of "bug". If you mean an insect, then a butterfly is a bug, but a spider is not. If you mean a beetle, then you might not include butterflies. If you mean creepy crawly things in general, it might even include worms which are not insects, although some insect larvae are worm-like. Yes, it was a childhood hobby
Anyway, my favorite bug jewelry is a dragonfly motif. I have a couple of pins, one I some times use as a pendant and will try to add photos later.
If you like it, wear it whether popular or not. The butterfly ring is very pretty.

I have seen a lot of spiders, scorpions and pretty scary bugs trending. This is one accessory trend I'm going to sit out.

I had not heard of this trend, but I like it!

Gonna have to figure out the mysteries of wearing brooches so I can wear my praying mantis.

I have a pretty big collection of jewelery featuring spiders, bees, and scorpions. Also snakes which I know are not bugs, but people still find them "creepy-crawly." As I also have jewelery with teeth, bats, and skulls, my bugs are my tame stuff! LOL

I will take some pictures here soon, and add to my reply.

I guess if you count belt buckles and hair doodads, my collection is pretty sizable. So I just made it a second reply. I threw in my skulls and teeth and bats while I was at it, too.

Joy is absolutely right. "Bug" is an informal term, and different people mean different things by it. I've always equated the term with insects and not arachnids, although that is likely due to the fact that arachnids scare the bejeebers out of me.

But I do love the pieces shown in the blog post. Those are a lot of fun. I've always loved scarab beetle jewelry, too - the Egyptian variety, although there are thousands of varieties. The rhinoceros beetle is a fave of mine, too.

Regardless, I don't own any. I don't typically buy fashion jewelry, and I've just never run across a bug/insect piece worth investing in in fine jewelry.

Deb, I think of butterflies as bugs too, but not spiders (which ironically I am terrified of ::waving at Echo::)

Here are my dragonflies.
1. Silver circular brooch from a museum shop ( I think The British Museum). This one often becomes a pendant.
2. Amber stones. A treasured gift from my niece who likes insects too.
