Hi Ladies,

I am such a late adopter that I am sure these are 'on their way out' BUT I have always liked them them and saw one today that I thought I might buy.

It's not quite the bubble shape, more faceted, but in red.

It doesn't matter that much to me to be 'trendy' but I guess I don't want to be wearing something that was trendy if the moment is well and truly past.

What say you?

I think red jewellery would be an excellent addition to your wardrobe. As for what is trendy, mnah, I' ll have to pass on that. Good to see you post, Deborah.

I bought one this year in black, so we can both be late adopters! I don't think it looks dated, obviously. I like the red for you, particularly with your black and white wardrobe!

I'll be honest and say I never really liked these, but that said, I have never ever seen one in person on anyone. Only online with the fashion blogosphere. So maybe it's a late adoption for that realm, but I don't think the everyday gal has seen an overload of these.
I agree red is very fun!

Where did you find it Deborah? There are some on Etsy which are reasonably priced, both smooth and facetted finish in a range of colours. I'll try and find the link if you are interested. I like them too, but haven't yet bought one - still thinking and contemplating colours!

Deborah, I am seeing a lot of chunky necklaces that frame a solid-coloured top beautifully, as this would.
I can absolutely see this fitting into your style and wardrobe.

I'm almost as late...just got one a few months ago!

but I still see them in every store, and still see them worn, so I'd say go for it. They can be had for very cheap so even it if it time limited, it's not a big risk.

I see them a lot still. In fact JCrew highlighted them in their recent catalog. Given the color and your wardrobe scheme, I think this would be a great dramatic accent to your black/white/ink blue outfits. I vote Yay.

I don't think they're out dated Deb - I'm still seeing lots in the stores right now. And of course red would work with your wardrobe beautifully.

I have a red bubble necklace that I've been wearing a lot lately. I get compliments on it every time I wear it, so I'm going to assume that people don't see it as dated.

Not sure if it's going to be dated as I'm still seeing these for sale a lot - but it seems like it would be rather heavy on the chest (literally I mean). Is the one you are considering this long? Is it heavy weight?

I'm a late adopter too. I do see them featured a lot on blogs currently, though, so I think maybe on the way out for ultra-early adopters, but for most of us, we'll be able to get a good year of wear out of them. I bought mine on Etsy, from payless4fab, so for $15 or so, it was very worthwhile. The quality is just okay, as you'd expect for $15, but more than nice enough to pass all but a very close inspection. I wore one in my post here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....e-me-do-it , which you commented on. I wouldn't spend a lot, but if you can get it for cheap, it is a fun fling!

It's very pretty and the color would be perfect with your wardrobe. I would hesitate to put too much money into one for the very reason you ask about trends, but that's just me.

They haven't even trickled into our stores yet. I asked a young women in an accessories store if there were any 'bubble necklaces' in the store, and she asked 'What's that?'

When I showed her a picture from a magazine, she was amazed, and said she had never heard of them! Likely they will be all over NEXT year.

So, I'd say you are either ahead of, or just on the curve.

Thanks ladies. I bought one For the Aussie girls, I bought it at Lovisa (a funkly little chain of costume jewelry stores). They had a sale on and I bought the bubble necklace and another cool long necklace in gold and silver tones for $9.00!

Texstyle, yes it is a bit weighty and long like the one in the picture, but you can adjust the length, so I would adjust it to sit on my chest, no lower than by 'boobies" (as Master 10 calls then)!

Runcarla, that's interesting. They have been in our stores for at least 12 months. Mostly cheap knockoffs of the JCrew ones. But I have seen very few people actually wearing them around here. And those that do, are mostly the teenage girls. I haven't seen any "grown up" women wearing them... so guess I will have to start the trend lol.

I think it would be great. They're still plentiful on J Crew (the original) and other dupes. I'd personally go with a cheaper one at this point in the trend. But they've been around awhile, so maybe they're becoming a "new classic"?

Thanks for the tip Deborah! I saw their sale today, but with kids in tow, it wasn't an ideal time to properly look! I didn't see the bubbles, but will go back ASAP and try some! Bargain!!
