Brown/black tights-shoes coordination

Dear all,

I scoured the forum for this question and even though I found similar queries, I didn't quite find the specific issue I'm looking for (but if it's there, please feel free to point me in that direction).
I'm packing for a trip to the Southern Hemisphere, where it's winter, and I'm blanking out on my tights/shoes combinations. I just can't think straight! Please help!
If I have brown shoes (rich, light-medium chestnut brown), what color tights should I wear? Brown, black, or otherwise? (The shoes are: maryjane pumps with a rounded toe, medium heel; and dark brown riding boots.)
They look most harmonious with the brown tights, but is the monochrome combo dated? The pumps look super weird with the black tights!
If I have time I'll post pics, but for now I thought maybe someone has a ready answer...

a monochrome color will always make your legs longer and call more attention to your torso and any other color you are wearing so if that's your goal stick with it! black would be used for contrast/bookending.
Also tights don't take up too much room. pack a second pair of tights or nude hose to wear with brown or black shoes?

Or, buy a pair of reversible tights!

I think if you've got a nice monochrome combo available that it's a sure thing--I don't think it's dated. The footwear and outfit combination would be more of an issue to me than matching tights.
Contrasting tights can look very fun and fashion-forward, but I always have to approach that pretty carefully--some types of shoes and colors lend themselves better to that, the degree of contrast or color depth.
