Broke my hair dryer!

I’m so behind on all the threads... meanwhile, I dropped and broke my hair dryer this morning! It was a Chi ion dryer and was really nice, but from a long time ago. I got it from my stylist at the time. Is Chi still a good hair dryer? Is some place like Ulta a good place to get one? Any recommendations?

Oh no!
I'm no help- I haven't used my blow dryer since I started perming my hair.
Hope you find a reasonable replacement.

Well! What timing! I’m no help. I have never used a hair dryer. If you saw my hair you’d know why.
I’ve bought one, & a straightening iron, & never used them. So lazy!
I ordered a “jinri” dryer from Amazon years ago & the box is unopened. (I don’t know about its quality though.)
Perhaps I should send it to you!

I am no help whatsoever since I don't even own a hairdryer. But I feel your pain!

I haven’t used one since mine sparked and freaked me right out!

I do have a Chi flat iron I love though! And I think Ulta would definitely have viable options.

I have a hair dryer and its main feature is it’s quiet. I think the loudness of some is very harmful.

I'm no use Rachy ... I have an inexpensive Conair blow-dryer from the drug store ... It does what I need it to but I don't know that it's reco-worthy

Well, I do own a hairdryer. It’s from Drybar and it’s quite nice and powerful but kind of heavy, so I don’t recommend.
What I do recommend is the tool I actually use instead of a hair dryer - a hot air brush.
IF you style your hair with a dryer and round brush, the hot air brush is a great tool . I can dry and style my hair in about 2/3 the time I used to and it looks very close to as nice as a salon blowout. That is not a look I could ever achieve with a dryer and brush.
There are fancy ones but I got the Revlon Titanium, which is about $50.

Ok .... Rachy ...i asked my daughter and her friend ( who is a hairdresser ).

Neither had heard of Chi. They both said the following hair dryer and brush are fantastic. Its a revlon pro.

And it gets fantastic reviews.

My hair dryer has been on it’s last legs for months now . I ordered one of those Revlon brush things sight unseen amd burst out laughing when I opened the box . The brush is HUGE . I need a new blow dryer but refuse to pay anything more than the bare minimum - my hair dries in about 2 minutes . I’ve been putting it off until I can force myself into a Walmart .

@lisap, that must’ve been a shock! Not a useful tool for short hair, that’s for sure.
I have a slightly longer than chin-length bob and the Titanium, which is a good bit smaller than the Pro posted by Isabel, works well for me.

Oh, no! I recall doing a ton of shopping for my current hair dryer. When I mentioned what it was, my hair stylist approved and said she uses them, too. The brand is a BabyLiss, and I got a small-ish one, so it is lighter weight than some I looked at. (This is the one I have.) I really like it. One thing I was looking for was a diffuser attachment, and this one had it. (It was more of a requirement when I had longer hair.)

So I realize you asked about Chi Ion, and I have heard of them, but I don't know anything about them. How's that for help? LOL

I use an inexpensive Conair that has a diffuser that I use occasionally and one of the Revlon brush tools. And I use earplugs.

The person who did my hair here recommends GHD hair tools. It might’ve been a little faster than other tools, but I’m really not sure. I don’t have patience to blow-dry my hair; if I wash it at night, it’s pretty much all dry by morning

I am reading this thread with interest. I have a very old hairdryer and use it regularly, so upgrading my hairdryer is one of those jobs I keep meaning to get around to (because I am sure I could get something that is better for the health of my hair) and just never get around to. Maybe I need to drop my hairdryer to spur me into action.

I bought mine at Costco about 3 months ago. I love it. Its a Testarossa by conair. Its an ion drier, has diffuser and the other attachment. Its lightweight. I paid about $30.00

We have a cheapo Conair cord keeper, prob cost about $40 if that. But it works well on DHs hair- which is thick and halfway down his back, so it's quick on my scrawny locks!

I have a hair dryer from ghd. I have had it for years and it´s very durable, powerful and has a long cord. But I have just looked at the US prices - seems to be higher prices than what it costs here (I am in Sweden). Not sure it is worth the money...
I have a flat iron from Revlon - works very well.

I use a T3 hairdryer that I got at Costco (but retails at lots of places). I’ve been using it for several years- I have very fine hair and blow dry every day. I’ve found it’s been good for quick drying without excessive heat, and generates a lot of body with no static.

You guys are great! The brush dryer is very intriguing - seems very popular! Although maybe very large Right now my style needs a diffuser. I usually blow dry it halfway so it’s not dripping, and then air dry the rest of the way.

All right. Got to go back through the thread and make a list! I’m thinking maybe I don’t have to go anywhere too special. Maybe go to the drugstore or similar like Angie. The ion technology was new when I got the one I broke; it’s probably not special anymore like that.

I bought a very expensive one about 15 years ago - T3 ion - that I never use. Mr. Style Fan uses a Conair and he likes it. I use a BabyBliss hot airbrush when I want to be fancy and you can imagine how often that happens! I have tried the Revlon hot airbrush as well. As a matter of fact, I have tried all of those hot airbrushes and I like the BabyBliss one the best.

If you were in Scandinavia, I would advise you to purchase your next hairdryer at Biltema. Theirs is in fact the best, most efficient (fast!) AND one of the cheapest I have ever owned.

Another vote for Parlux! Very light, dries quickly and reduced the amount of breakages.
