Brightening colors

Any suggestions for getting tired/dull tops bright again? Is color safe bleach really color safe and effective or am I going to regret it? The tops I have in mind are cotton. One is yellow, almost citron, and looking a little sick. The other is white but with green polkadots.

I'm kind of the last person to recommend anything related to cleaning, but have you tried OxyClean? I bought a tub at the grocery recently and it seems to brighten things up.

OxyClean. I fill the washer tub with water before adding it, so that it dissolves without touching clothes directly. Not sure that's necessary, but that's what I do.

I'm going to recommend oxyclean too. I pop a scoop in with whites that have gone a bit grey and it brightens them up a treat I guess it should work with colours too x

Unless it's the actual dye that has run out of the garments, oxyclean, or napisan will brighten them. If the dye has run and dulled them there will be no effect though.

my guess, if they are cotton that it is a fading issue.. but a scoop of oxyclean certainly won't hurt them.

I'm not finding it via google, so maybe it's been discontinued, but there used to be a product that is little cloths that you throw in the wash with your clothes and it grabs the dye out of the water so your colors don't mix and get dingy looking. I thought they were a rit product. Anyone know the name?

If they're still around, and you like crisp, bright, true colors, it might be worth investing in using them in every non black or white load you wash.
