Breaking Bad finale: predictions? (spoilers!)

I am obsessed with and dreading the final episode! Any guesses as to what is going to happen and why? The suspense is unbearable! Who is on your predicted live/die list? And who do you want to live or die?

I am amazed reading online how many people are gunning for Walter Jr. to die. Or Skyler. Not predicting they will but actually WANTING them to die.

My #1 death wish is the Nazis. My #1 want to live but expect to die is Jesse. I'm going to ponder more and come back with a real list.

I have been assuming Walt will die and Jesse will live, but after the last few episodes I don't know what to think about any of it!

I want Walt to die. I want the Nazis to die (especially Todd!). I want Lydia to die.

I don't even know what to wish for poor Jesse. He's so messed up in every way I just don't see any halfway-acceptable outcome for him.

And I want everybody else to live. (Especially Hank. *sob*)

In the first episode Walt was about to commit suicide by cop. I wonder whether he will do that in the finale.

It's almost Shakespearean in its scale of tragedy, isn't it? King Lear, Macbeth, some sort of cathartic Greek denouement? I was pretty dang sad about Hank, and GOMEY! The only brown person who wasn't a dealer...

Jesse is like nuclear fallout at this point. I foresee him deliberately blowing up the meth lab and taking out the Nazis. He learned how to do it from Walt.

If I had the time and stamina, I'd watch the whole series again before Sunday to look for clues...

I'm really happy I watched the whole series in less than two months. Makes it all much more fresh and immediate!

I've heard the "Jesse blows up the meth lab with himself and the Nazis in it" theory and I kind of like it.

And yes, R.I.P. Gomey. He went way out on a limb to support Hank in going after Walt, and paid for it with his life!

Definitely Shakespearean!!

I really want Skyler, the kids, and Marie to be okay. I agree with Mary that there is no easy way out for Jesse, and living might seem like a punishment at this point. Walt, he has to pay, right after he takes all the Nazis and Lydia out. I wish Jesse had the wherewithal to blow the lab up, but chemistry was never his strong suit. He's become a great meth cook thanks to Walt, but he's not a good chemist by any means. Vince Gilligan promised the finale to be very satisfying to fans. I just hope I'm not an outlier on this!

I know! The problem is I've read so many people on the net who still are rooting for Walt to make it unscathed. I do not think that could happen if the integrity of the storyline is to remain intact, but it worries me that people think he should escape his due somehow.

People seem to grasp at any possible excuse to exonerate Walt. He's only doing it for his family! He's dying! He's only killing bad people or only when he has to! To which I say, bullshit!

Walter has been enjoying his empire for a while now. Even if he started out doing it for his family, he's been doing it for himself ever since he tasted the power. And why exactly did he have to kill Mike, or poison Brock? As he told Skyler about guilt, "It gets easier," and he himself hasn't really been grieving for any of his victims for a long time.

I'm curious to see what he'll do with Grey Matter - it has to play into the ending, right?

I'm sure something will happen there. He was really evil to his ex the last time he saw her. And the money thing is clearly the source of his discontent, having been disenfranchised by his buddy. Argh!

Yeah, bringing Grey Matter back into it certainly re-introduces another wrinkle. Walt's pride is still under his despair somewhere and hearing Gretchen and Elliot claim he had nothing to do with creating Grey Matter was a blow, I'm sure. He has now been publicly denounced and rejected by everyone who ever mattered to him.

It truly is a Greek tragedy. I am hoping that somehow Jesse can take down Todd and the neo-Nazis and survive. I'd be fine with Lydia getting her due as well. I hope Skyler and the kids can move away from ABQ somehow and start anew. Marie too.

I also want to know what becomes of Saul. I know about the spinoff, but not sure whether it will be prequel or sequel.

I hope Badger and Skinny Pete are laying off the drugs and working on that Star Trek screenplay.

Wait, Una, Walt wasn't disenfranchised from what I recall. Didn't he somehow bail out of the fledgling company (also while dumping Gretchen?)? That's what I gathered from his conversations with Gretchen. And then Elliot offered him a job when he heard about the cancer, but Walt was too proud to take him up on his offer. Walt had no one to blame but himself for being such an underachiever. I think that is the source of his Heisenberg side -- self-loathing for failing to live up to his potential in a legal, legitimate business.

Predictions: Marie will be shown in the finale to be pregnant with Hank's child.

Walt will hear that Todd and Uncle Jack's crew are cooking up the nearly pure product and he will think that Jesse is willingly working with them now, which will add even more fuel to his plans for utter vengeance and will play a part in his purposely killing Jesse along with their lab and crew. I am thinking Jesse is totally a goner, one way or another. Walt will see and think that not only did Grey Matter take his ideas and work years ago and hugely profit, but also now so are Jesse and Jack's gang with his recipe, money and empire that he built. Walt the victim.

I have very, very little sympathy for Walt, really none left, for what he did and what he allowed himself to become. He is a monster and evil.

In the beginning of last week's episode, that grotesque crying clown statue being packed up in a box: that's Walt.

Una, probably a red herring, but do you remember the episode when Marie said she was taking prenatal vitamins -- allegedly "to help her hair grow better" or something along that line? After Hank's murder it would just feel better emotionally if out of all that darkness to think Hank isn't completely gone if we are left with the idea that there is the seed of goodness that may continue on in his child. Anyway, I'd like for Marie to have his baby.

I am sure that fans are in for some really unexpected happenings on Sunday night. We shall see.

I'm thinking in the end pretty much everyone will be miserable, and things will end badly on an epic scale. I sort of always felt that Jesse would kill Walt. I'm probably in the minority here, but I actually don't want Walt to die, well other than from his eventual cancer death, but I feel like Walt was a really great character and I empathize with a lot of what he did. Other than hurting Jesse, I don't really disagree with most of what he did. In the context of the series....you know, not in real life!

I haven't been reading any other message boards but here is what I think will happen:
Walt kidnaps Gretchen and forces Schwartz to deposit $100 million into a Swiss bank account for his family. He is all about taking care of his family financially, revenge is just the side dish.
Then turns himself in and tells authorities that Jesse has been taken by the White Supremacists (he softens at the end). So Jesse is saved, he adopts Brock and goes straight (boring, I actually don't really care what happens to Jesse, he is weak and will only turn to drugs again at some point).
Claudia you are SO right about the pregnancy. Classic conception scenario.
Not sure how the Lydia/Todd dyad will be resolved, if at all.

Argh! Claudia, you smartie! This is why I need to rewatch the entire series before tomorrow. Not gonna happen, sadly.

There was an interesting article on NPR about how the editing and filming of the series made people empathize with Walt. To me it's not what he did that makes me loathe him at this point, it's who he turned into because of it - and to me the point of the show is that those two evolutions are hopelessly intertwined. In other words, does what you do determine who you are, or the other way around?

That piece makes some very good points, Una. Bryan Cranston is the reason why I still have some small bit of sympathy for Walt. When he made that phone call to Skyler in the episode before last -- when he had taken Holly and knew the police were there -- and he started to break down and cry before he hung up, I could feel it. He's done awful things, and in many ways is unforgivable. But I could still see his humanity in that moment -- his despair in having to say goodbye in that way to his family, and how everything he had done had only driven them away from him, rather than help them. It was horrifying and sad.

Yes, it is truly like watching a train on an inevitable crash course at this point.

Did anyone read (or see) House of Sand and Fog? Similar sense of impending, inevitable doom because of characters being unable to change course due to circumstances and their own flaws.

Oh, House of Sand and Fog was heartbreaking, Una. I very strongly identified with Behrani's immigrant experience, having gone through a similar (albeit much less tragic, thankfully) assimilation process. But Kathy's character was still sympathetic too. It was just gut-wrenching, watching their lives implode due to so many bad decisions, while no one was really at fault, you know?

Ughh...I have to wait till tomorrow night to watch. DH is on night shift and I promised him I would wait for him. I could watch tonight and pretend like I didn't see it tomorrow...lol, but I'd probably give it away! Lucky dogs, have fun tonight!

I am antsy waiting for it! Part of me wants 9:00 to hurry up and get here, but the other part of me doesn't want it to, because that means it's coming to an end.

My main hope is for some kind of satisfying resolution for Jesse.

And I hope that swastika-tattooed uncle meets a nasty end.

I read House of Sand and Fog -- never saw the movie. It was heartbreaking -- I should actually re-read it.

Yes! I so want a good end for Jesse, but I can't imagine what that would look like at this point!

And not that I am in any way controlling, but can we agree that somebody will start a new thread for reactions to the finale? I would hate to see a spoiler here before it airs in my time zone!
