Update - with Pics: Breakfast interview...

Jumping in the shower shortly to get ready for that breakfast interview...... and then this will be fun, trying to put on panty hose ...
because although I'm not in as much pain, I am having trouble bending my knee!!

I am giving myself extra time this AM because I'm still not 100% positive on what I'm going to wear. I have laid out a few options to try on and fuss over. I am sure to be fussing because I'm nervous. Whatever I ultimately settle on, I will be sure to post a photo later when I return!

I had only 2 hours sleep last night - I was too excited about this interview and I tossed and turned, until finally giving up, getting online, and doing research for the interview.

I hope this woman doesn't get the wrong impression of me as I limp in, with bags under my eyes from no sleep.... I am figuring she's probably going to be jetlagged and dragging too!!

Here's what I ultimately settled on wearing:

... But I never took off the jacket, because it was nippy in the restaurant. I went with this blouse instead (new - bought at BR this weekend with coupons), because I thought it was more interesting. And I liked it with this necklace!

I actually bought this particular blouse to go under the cobalt blue BR cardi - they look great together (and that's what I am now wearing, for the rest of the day)

... I also picked up this jacket at BR's sale this weekend. I also got the matching skirt, but I thought it was too matchy matchy (but good to have, just in case I need it - and both are great separates I can mix and match endlessly).

This jacket is ultra comfy - ponte knit. You can't see it in this photo, but it has a parade of buttons down the sleeves - I saw that and it reminded me of Antje's bf cardi!!!

Incidentally, in my Furla bag I have the Stuart Weiss snake-skin ballet flats! They actually look very cute with these gray hose. I wore those to walk from the car to the hotel, and switched into the high heels before she came down to meet me. So I didn't have to torture myself in them.

The interview went very well! Couldn't have gone any better, in fact. We hit it off, and ran way over the one hour allotted. I have been invited to take the next step in the process - another interview, but it won't be for another two weeks because the person is traveling.

Nicole - I did interview her, to get a sense of her mgmt style. We've both sort of circled around each other, but never worked directly together, throughout the last few years. We know all the same people, etc. We had fun swapping "war stories."

If it wasn't for my bum knee, I'd be doing backflips right now.

Thank you everyone for all your crossed fingers, prayers, good karma sent my way - just knowing you were all rooting for me made a difference!

The second interview will be done over video, so what I wear will be critical. I have been through training for this already. No patterns like this blouse I wore today, or pinstripes (they dance on screen). No gold or silver jewelry (too reflective) - pearls are ideal. No white shirts - you want something bold and flattering to skin color for contrast. Lipstick will be important (again, a contrast issue). And probably a jacket to give me some presence.

It matters most what I wear above the waist, but this mgr I interviewed with told me about how sometimes people - all dressed in suit and tie from waist up - are caught at end of conference getting up - and you'll see them wearing things like ugly acid wash jeans with holes or ratty sneakers or even PJ's or sweat pants (if video conferencing from home office)!! LOL.

I may wear the purple BR shirt for that interview - it's a solid color, a bold color, and it doesn't need a necklace, since it has the tie. Simple pearl earrings. And the short-sleeve black BR jacket, because the wool is a nice quality and falls very nicely - even when I'm sitting down. I could probably get away with dark wash jeans on the bottom, or basic black dress slacks.

Incidentally, the hiring mgr was wearing dress slacks, silk blouse, cardigan. She was very jetlagged and that was part of the fun, because I told her how I was up all night thinking about the job, and was also tired. We both kept losing our train of thought and making jokes about it.

Anyway, I had a nervous night myself last friday before my interview and I understand exactly how you felt. Unfortunately the whole recruiting process usually takes time while after our nervous nights we would wish to know the results immediately and of course being positive ones!
Keep my fingers crossed! You should have sound sleep tonight, I wish your leg to get better ASAP:-)

Super outfit, Shiny. Glad to hear the interview went well; good luck on the second round! Your video interview outfit sounds great. I'd err on the side of being over-dressed and would go with the black dress slacks rather than dark wash jeans.
Love the story about people being caught in sweat pants or PJ pants at the end of a video call. I guess they like to live dangerously... I could never pull this off; I'd feel awkward and nervous the whole team and worry about being found out.

Yay, glad to hear that it all went well. I knew your outfit would be spectacular. I loved the story about the video interview candidates who wore inappropriate bottoms. I couldn't do that either, I'd be so worried that someone would catch a glimpse that I couldn't focus on the interview.
