I'm in the market for some new shoes for work. I've been wearing the ballet flat trend for years now, I still really like the style but it's getting very hard to find really comfortable pairs. I think I need to break out of a style rut, but am not sure which direction to go.

At work, I normally wear either a jersey knee length dress, or a blouse and knee length skirt. Most of the year I wear opaque tights (so British) in navy, grey or black. I'd like to wear ankle-length trousers too, if I could find a pair that works. I need flat shoes, and would prefer them to be not black, but quirky or patterned. I currently own:

  • faded black low ankle boots - these work well but are only just flattering enough
  • navy ballet pumps - super comfortable, but on their last legs
  • plum suede ballet pumps - not an amazing fit, fab colour and interesting style (see finds)
  • black ballet pumps - don't wear often as black and not an amazing fit (see finds)
  • back knee high boots - mainly in winter
  • black monks strap shoe - don't wear often, perhaps the high dark vamp is too much
What kinds of new-to-me styles should I try?
