Thanks to the *wonderful* April I received my BR Martin pants in the mail a few weeks ago. They are awesome pants and I have been wearing them to work at least twice a week since receving them!

As you may remember I agonised about both the sizing and the pant length before finally placing my order. In the end I went for the size 10 regulars. They are snug around my appley stomach, but hold up as perfectly comfy through 15 hour work days. In terms of length I am planning to get the 1" hem taken down. Even still I think they will be a bit shy of PPL, but hopefully passable. At the moment I'm wearing them tucked with boots so it doesn't matter too much.

Special thanks to April and also to everyone else who offered sizing advice on these pants. Now I'm thinking about getting a pair in navy or grey as well (and going for the tall size instead) - evil hey!!

Size up if you get the gray! I think they're from a different season, and they run (in my experience) about 3/4 of a size smaller than the black (i.e., the black in a 2 is decidedly snug and close to the body, and in the gray 4, there's a bit more room, but not nearly enough to size down).

I am so glad to see this post. I received my BR Martin pants today in grey. I had to get size 12 in short and the length is great but tad snug in waist. If I get the black will they fit a little looser in the waist? I really like them thanks to all for the info.

I would think you'll need the tall, as do I. But be prepared, as they are quite long indeed. This might very well be the perfect pant, but the rise isn't quite enough and they are uncomfortably snug where they shouldn't be. I would have thought the tall would allow for this. Sizing up is not an option, unfortunately. Did anyone else experience this same issue?

Michelle yes it has been a while. I'm finally back to working 40hrs per week again though, so I'll have a lot more ylf time now. Yay!!

And yay for BR Martins!! How great it is that they work for so many people! Kyle yes the tall ones sound very long indeed, I'd def. have to get them hemmed and I'd size up in them too since it sounds like the grey ones run smaller. Ages ago I did email BR about the rise measurements for the tall size and was a bit confused by their reply as it seemed to suggest the rise was lower on the tall pair, which made no sense to me at all!!!

Tam, Mae has them in a Tall size and will perhaps weigh in about the length.

When you're ready to try them, if there's any advantage to having me ship them instead of using "Fifty-One", I'm happy to do so. I seem to recall mixed reviews of that international shipping company, and as we know, the customer service here is excellent.

Yes, April is FAB! I have to agree there. I think I was at her house during the packaging of your garments.

I have the tall BR Martin skinnies and they are perfect. They *are* definitely longer than some brands' versions of tall. I have about a 34" inseam, and they fit perfectly, IMO. I love the scrunch at the bottom. (It's so rare that I find pants that actually reach the ground, I rejoice when I find them.)

Yay for the Martin skinnies! They're so versatile. I'll add in my two cents that the gray ones are definitely cut smaller than the black.

I was going to order the black pants but they are on back order until Oct. 29th and back up to full price and no coupons. I guess I will wait but thanks for the info on the pants it really help me make up my mind to get the black pants.

Oh no... I'm afraid I'm going to have to enable you even further.... have you tried the BR Sloans? I like them even better than the Martins (which have long been my favorite dress slacks). They are narrower in the thighs than the Martins. Yublocka, I know you have narrow thighs like I do....

I lost too much weight so none of my dress slacks were fitting, and I have a business trip coming up and can't wear jeans - business casual. Rule against jeans when interfacing with customers. Grrr. Silly rule....

Anyway, I scooped up a pair of the black Sloans last weekend, tested them out, loved them, and invested in two more... taupe and gray.
