Thanks so much for all the replies! I love it when the "hive mind" agrees so consistently :-).
Slim Cat good idea about styling with the zippers undone, I'll give that a try.
Kyle, Kellygirl, merwoman, Jenni NZ good point about them looking more polished when there is less bunching.
Thanks Rachylou, cat2, Angie, Runcarla!
RobinF great point about trying them sitting down. I do that with pants to make sure the rise isn't too high but hadn't thought about looking at the length in that same context
kkards I might wear them with boots once or twice more this spring, but primarily will wear them with sneakers/loafers/sandals as spring/summer pants.
Joy, Jaime, Sal, I only wash clothes in cold water, and never put clothing in the dryer, so shrinkage should not be an issue. The rise feels GOOD which is a bit of a miracle considering the vast prevalence of high rise pants these days.
Zaeobi good suggestion about wearing them around for a bit ... I'm trying to remember to do that with new pants.
Aquamarine, I suppose I might end up wearing these next winter, not ruling it out but only if they work with socks/boots. I'll figure it out later in the year when winter comes around again and if they end up being warm-weather only pants that's ok.
