BR coral dress - is it a keeper?

I've had my eye on this coral dress from Banana Republic for a while, so when I came across it today at 65% off, I snapped it up! I've been missing a work-appropriate dress in my spring/summer wardrobe and this one hits most of my wish list: signature colour, a-line skirt, and sleeves. The only thing I'm not sure about is the neckline. I've tried wearing it a few different ways with stuff from my closet. What do you think? Is it a keeper? The alternative is #5, but it felt like a lot of stripes, even for a stripe-lover like me!

The coral is gorgeous on you, a keeper for sure. I like it better on you than the stripes but also love stripes.

I really, really loved it until I went back and read your post. I see the issue with the neckline that you referenced. Wearing a scarf inside the neckline or wearing the dress without a jacket seems to the solution. Do you need to wear a jacket at work?

Fits beautifully, pretty color, I say keep. I really like it in #3 and 4 especially.

fab color.....i'm not loving it with the moto style jacket, but i do love it with the lighter shoes. IMO the stripe dress has a whole different vibe, much more casual, so i don't see them as an either or...

What Kkards said -- doesn't look like an either/or to me. Coral is lovely on you and seems versatile.

I prefer the coral one (looks great!). Can you get the neckline to lie flat?
I think it would bother me if it never lay flat.
I like how you've styled it with the jean jacket. I also like the lighter shoes with it.

Both dresses are great but I like versions #1 and #2 the best.

The color and cut are lovely but I think the neckline would drive me nuts. I wouldn't get it and keep looking. I can justify anything when it's a great color or on sale but if I am bothered by some aspect of it right from the start it will sit in my closet and languish because I will always chose something else to wear instead.

Coral dress - hands down. Would having a small loop and button that kept the collar closed resolve the collar problem?

Your use of a heavy necklace to hold it down is clever, but I like the scarf inside the neck best, mostly because itmismsuch a perfect scarf!

Thank you, everyone! Consensus seems to be the colour is fab, although a few of you see my concern with the neckline. I think I'm going to keep it, as I know I love it alone, without a jacket, and the scarf look appears to be a hit! Runcarla, I love your suggestion of a little button - that could be cute! You got me thinking, if I wanted to in the future, I'm sure my tailor could turn it into a true v-neck.

Okay...so, a total newbie question now. What are these little awards or badges I see at the bottom of your posts? I think if I click them I can react to your posts, is that right?

That color and shape is so pretty on you!!

But, I will share that I am a huge fan of the split neck and have a lot of that neckline in my closet. And everytime I add one that flops like that one, it ends up languishing and not being worn. I don't find it partularly troubling from a visual standpoint. But the feeling of it drives me bonkers.

"Fixes" like jewelry and scarves will not change how it hangs, and adding a button and loop will not look right. And once it has been washed or dry cleaned, it will be even more pronounced

As you can see from the many positive responses here, others will love it on you - I certainly do! So it really does come down to whether it is comfortable and visually pleasing to you.

The coral one is great. The striped one I don't like because of the way the stripes change direction at the sides.

The dress looks great on you, I especially like it with the denim jacket. I can't do necklines like that because i bend over and chase toddlers all day, but if you're comfortable, go for it.

Great colour dress, really suits you. I don't like the striped one so much, but it's quite a different vibe if you do.

Another vote for the coral (love it with the black and jean jackets), but the stripe is pretty darn good too

I love the coral dress. I prefer it with the lighter coloured shoes. The darker coloured shoes do bookend your hair but they seem heavy for the dress IMHO (In my humble opinion).
