Both. I wore my baggiest today, because it's still fairly hot out (high 70s). I like baggier/looser for hot weather. I can't stand tight denim against my skin in hot weather, even if cropped or capri or short shorts.

But the baggier my bottoms, the more streamlined the top. I can't do baggy + baggy. I look swamped.

I only have skinny boyfriends...I just cannot do very baggy butt.

I've always preferred a slimmer slouch to my BFs. I have 2 pairs, one from j jill and once from Cabi. Both blue. The Cabi ones are very distressed and I love them. I also have 2 pairs of chinos that I wear "boyfriend style" that are slouchier than the denim ones. I have no interest in either getting any slimmer. I like them as is.

My concern is I want to wear boyfriends in the fall and winter but I want them full length so I don't have exposed skin at the bottom. I have long legs so finding PPL is a challenge. Most BFs are shorter because we roll them and its not as important to have long length. So now I want the right slouch AND the right length.

I am leaning toward a less slouchy fit, I think.
Generally I prefer a pant that can be worn around the house sans belt at the end of the day- and too over-sized just slides down uncomfortably!
It is interesting that my fashion-conscious DD still prefers skinny fits despite BF finally arriving into mainstream Australia- so I am still the only middle-aged lady wearing them around here

I haven't been wearing mine much, I've favoured my streaight leg jeans or my track pants & harems for winter. I have white & light wash blue pairs in a slimmer fit which will get a lot of wear in spring I'm sure.

I never tried seriously baggy, very very dropped crotch BF jeans, so perhaps I'm not qualified to vote.

But I love my Zara Men's slim-fitting up-sized grey chinos, rolled up to ankle length.

And I'm spending so much time in my Rogue Territory black jeans, I have to hope they grow close to my heart as they break in. Am even sleeping in them occasionally, which my human bf seems not to mind, in hopes of softening them faster.

Last winter, I liked a something between baggy skinnies and full on loose boyfriends. More like a straight leg, but a bit looser. Just a bit.

However, as things progressed, I totally went for loose boyfriends in maternity jeans. Soooo comfy, and comfort trumps all right now!

Right there with you on the relaxed skinnies approach to BF jeans, Angie. I have Katherine Kuts that fit that way and Hudson skinnies that I have sized up deliberately. I am not comfortable with too much volume in my jeans around the waist and upper thighs. The fabric bunches uncomfortably and my legs get very "short" very quickly with denim cut that way. I also like a tapered or not bulky straight lower leg, for both flattery and easy boot wearing. I enjoy all proportions of BFs on others, but find BFs "light" are my go-to choice.

Relaxed skinny or straight legs for me. I don't like baggy jeans or pants at all. Favorites are the Big Star and KUT Catherine slim BFs.

My favourite BFs right now are Fidelity AXL relaxed skinnies. I just bought my second pair. I have a very baggy pair of Silver Sams with patches that I have not worn much this year.

I bypassed boyfriends but do wear my slightly looser wine skinnies a lot.

I'm into a bit slimmer look this fall too, but not so much as not to wear my baggier ones, just enough that my slim-but-not-skinny ones are the ones I reached for first. I like the figure flattery.

I definitely prefer slimmer boyfriends. Since I have very slim thighs, jeans that are labeled "boyfriends" are much baggier than I like. Right now my white Kuts and blue Paige Denim straight legs both seen like boyfriends on me. They are just loose enough that I can wear them comfortably in the summer.

I dipped my toes in the BF Pool with Eddie Bauer BFs. They are slim through the thigh on me, but still a little baggier in the rear than I would prefer. I do think they are super comfortable and wear them weekly now, but I am not sure I would ever pick up a slouchier pair. If I didn't have two lap dogs, I would think about getting a white pair for the summer, but I am not sure I can keep them clean enough.

I'm with you, too, Angie. I just don't find the very baggy, very slouchy BFs flattering enough (forget about JFE!), especially since I've gained weight. That being said, I adore my Kut Catherines and have three pairs. They fit well with just the right amount of slouch, and I always have a very high happiness factor when I wear them. I also have a pair of NYDJ Leann slim BFs which are cut narrower than my Kuts. They're useful, too, but I prefer the others.

I never considered wearing BF jeans because most of them are baggy and distressed, which are too sloppy and casual for my style. It does not feel right to buy clothes with holes and tears in them! Just ordered a pair of the KUT Catherine in white recommended by Angie, since they fit more like relaxed skinnies and not distressed. I am growing a bit tiresome of blue jeans and am excited to try a different color and fit.

I like the look of a wide range of boyfriends, but at the moment, I'm mostly wearing my new Rag&Bone "Dre" jeans, which I think were labeled "skinny boyfriends". Suz says she has the same ones. On me, they definitely don't look like skinnies, but they are not what I'd call baggy. They have some ease all the way from the seat to the ankles, while still achieving a slim fit.

I have a couple of pairs of somewhat baggier boyfriends too. I don't actually own any that are super-loose (the kind that would fall right off without a belt) but I do like the look. It's a harder style for me to wear, though.

How interesting! For once Angie I'm not on the same page as you I'm with Una and Rabbit in the minority: I like the slouchier baggier BF jeans and proper skinny jeans. Totally feeling over my baggier skinnies, and actually I'd like to replace most (but not all) of my slouchy/baggy skinnies with either properly slouchy or properly skinny pairs.

Well it's been mostly the baggier BFs all summer long. Now that it's getting a wee bit cooler I'm pulling out my skinnier ones. Kind of feels like a nice change to put some tighter pants on for a bit. Today I pulled out my Vigoss destroyed BF's and they felt great!

I only have one pair of boyfriend jeans - they are actually Levis Straight legs that are oldish, faded, and too big, that I wear rolled up. I also have some regular fitted straight legs (Country Road) that I wear rolled up at the moment. I am considering some new jeans but will hold off I think until next NZ autumn because I don't wear jeans all that regularly in summer - and the budget is tight. I have five pairs of jeans in total with three being more popular and one pair being downgraded to gardening, yard work jeans leaving me with four pairs.

This thread made me laugh because my boyfriend closest to my heart is my DH..(not any ex-boyfriends).
And Catnip saying she preferred slimmer boyfriends also made me chuckle.

I prefer sized-up skinnies instead of a baggy BF!

Phew, Aida - let's start glamping and break out the hand-cut marshmallows here in Camp Slouchy, population 3. Maybe 4 if Marley chimes in! I was all ready to slink away in shame... What can I say? I just like the saucy insouciance of exaggerated slouch and hope there is still a place for it!

Woa! Seriously girls?????? I am sooooo into the baggy, slouchy "look!" They just feel good to me - effortless, casual - "oh really, my pants are too big?" - "oh, I guess they are aren't they?" Shrug.

ETA: Hahahahaha Una! Yes - we're a team of four (4) and standing strong (in our baggy jeans!)

Wait!?!?! Hand-cut marshmellows????? Never heard of them - but they sound soooo good!

Marley! Roasting a big old slouchy marshmallow for you right now. Notice I called you out in my comment? XO

Lol, and Marley totally rocks the super-baggy look!

I am not currently "in a relationship" with any BF denim. I think I'll need something more along the lines of the AG Nikkis, but I have to wait until the price comes down or that style hits the mass market. When I try the baggier styles, my tops don't look right with them, and I need some jeans that will work with the tops I already have (along with my shoes) and not necessitate other new items.
