Boyfriend jeans attempt. Hmm. Not so sure about this.....

Well, I am giving the boyfriend jeans trend a try here, but I'm not yet convinced this is for me. These are the Levi's Selvidge jeans from Piperlime. I'm usually between a 27 and 28 so I ordered a 28. They are plenty baggy in the seat, but a little snug and tapered at the calf. I can't really roll them up much higher than in the photos. Maybe I should go up a size?

#1-2 - Styled with husband's belt (I didn't have a belt that fit around my hips)
#3-4 - Semi-tucked sans belt

I can't say I feel very fab in this look. In fact, I feel kind of dumpy and unfab. And yet the photos don't look that bad. The looseness of the jeans is comfortable, but I'm not convinced this is a look I want to embrace. Or maybe I just don't have the right pair. Opinions?

I like the fit but I think the frumpy feeling might come from the high waist? I'd like to see them hanging on your hips a bit more. They don't look frumpy but I'm not sure they are just right. Honestly, I think the perfect fit will not *feel" frumpy... you have great instincts so I'd go with your gut.

I don't think they look frumpy. However, I wonder if a size up would solve the tightness around the calf issue? It would also make the slouch more deliberate.

They fit but you would probably feel more fab if they were a lower rise as AG pointed out. You have such a gorgeous figure that there is certainly a perfect BF out there for you! I do like the semi tuck version the best as it hides more of the higher rise.

I think that they need to be looser overall - they are hugging the legs for a good bit, which is preventing them from being truly slouch. IMHO.

I agree with Sarah on the legs. Maybe try a different kind, to get slightly wider thighs without going bigger in the waist?

Size up and possibly change brands/style. I like ones that are softer so they drape a bit better and these seem a bit stiff for BF jeans.

I'm not sure you're capable of looking bad in anything. But if you don't feel good in them, don't force it. If it's not you, it's not you.

You know, I think you look great. But I also think BF jeans are not for everyone because it's not a good match for their personal style. Maybe that's what you're feeling. You look great, but you don't feel equally great.

Thanks for all the opinions, everyone. If I do continue on this boyfriend journey I will definitely try for a looser baggier fit.

Kyle, you may have it right. I just don't feel all that happy in this look, and I'm not sure I want to devote a lot of time to chasing it down if I'm just not feeling it.

I like the look, but it's very causal and simple (not that there's anything wrong with that). Maybe you're not feeling it because you're not wearing some cool shoes to finish the look off? Or maybe you need to do something less causal on top like a blazer and stripey tee? I just bought boyfriend jeans today, so I've been mulling over what to wear with them so they have some level of style, rather than just looking plain.
