Unfortunately, I'm looking for tunic length ones ( one dark purple and one grey or black) to wear with skinnies, like in this photo:

Unfortunately, this is going to be a tough ordeal for me because of the length. It is very unflattering on my body to have such item hit me right under my backside, since it over accentuates my hips and makes me look stumpy. But that's when most of even long ones end up, because of my super-long torso ( even the one on the photo might be 1 or 2 inches too short). I'm looking for mid/thigh, or so called finger-tip length ( and my arms are pretty long as well).

It is incredibly sweet of all of you to think of me. I hope that later in the season there will be more options/choices. I have so far found a few good ones online, but they are all designer and cost above of $300 which I can not afford.

Tanya, I have a hard time imagining you looking stumpy in anything!

I saw a boyfriend cardi at H&M in San Francisco this week. They only had it in one color - something in between a warm pink and light fuchsia (there probably is a color word for it but I'm blanking...)

Lucky Magazine featured a red one from Macys in the August issue; it was a nice rich color.

I'll be looking for a boyfriend cardi, too (but right now I'm enjoying summer too much to really look at fall clothes...) My challenge will be to find one that doesn't contain any wool, as I'm allergic. No merino, cashmere etc. for me. It makes fall sweater/cardi shopping hard.

I do love the Tulle one, and might get it despite the fact that it's not exactly what I'm looking for. That's my general problem with shopping: I look for something, find it in not so close version, like it and get it. Than later I find it exactly the way i wanted it, and get that one as well, and end up with too many things

Inge, the others are pretty close. I am trying to avoid the t-shirt material, otherwise I would be all over the Splendid one from your fifth post ( or the UO one). Antje, I am sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can find a nice one in silk/cotton blend. I'll keep my eyes open for you. BR actually currently has one in the store (it's not online), made of cotton blend, elbow sleeves, comes in black or heather tan. It was just a bit too short for me.

I've been eyeing this one from Victoria's Secret. Just $32 and 11 colors. It's cotton. This appeals to me, as I can't wear wool. Let us know how it works out. I have exactly the same issue as you regarding the length...but I think I'm going to give this one a try, perhaps in the jewel purple.

I think that cardi is T-shirt fabric, and not a cotton item of knitwear as you might have hoped. At least that’s my impression. VS photography is great but the actual product often pales in comparison. Again, this has been my experience.

Kyle, I think Angie is right about the material, I have two tops from their t-shirts collection (same material) and the material is thin finely ribbed cotton. It's fine for a casual T, but I wouldn't get a cardigan in it . But of course if that's what you are after then you get give it a try.

I have a hunch that we'll have quite some activity on the forum re: boyfriend cardigan. It seems like a great fall basic, stylish and practical, and I think it should be relatively easy to accomodate for most body shapes (with varying lengths, belted/unbelted versions etc.) I definitely want to get one, but can't quite fathom it yet now that it's finally hot and sunny (hot to me Seattle means 80 degrees ;-)) But it's fun starting to think about fall shopping for sure.
I have never actually shopped at Victoria's Secret, though I've been tempted. Are you guys saying the quality is generally disappointing?

I think you are right about boyfriend cardigans Antje, I have the same feeling as well.

As for quality of VS Antje, it's all over the board, though in general not that great, at best it's comparable to Express. They carry some stuff from other manufacturers, which tends to be nicer. Their own things are hit or miss. I used to buy a lot of their stuff, and am currently weening myself off, not completely but mostly. Pants,blazers and such are comparable to Express. Sweaters vary - I have quite a few of them from various collections - merino is awful, silk/cashmere blend pretty nice, while the boucle starts pilling badly about a year or so. Tops and shirts- the nicer ones -silk and cotton blouses are OK, the knits all over the place.

I might still get an odd piece there, for infrequent wear, but am staying away from them for staples. I am currently considering the following:

1. a knock-off of Nanette Lepore blouse from last season

That silk tie-neck blouse is super. If the sleeves weren't so fluttery I'd consider it, too. Love those cowlneck tops, too. I might have to check VS out sometime. I shop at Express and am pretty happy with their quality, considering most are "fashion pieces" that I don't expect to wear for more than 2 years. I think they have a nice style that's both sleek and funky.
