Bow blouse- Investment or Trend?

I have a cream colored bow blouse on my fall wishlist. I found this lovely option that is pretty much dead on what I'm looking for (sleeves, a higher neckline, ties long enough for a big bow).

I ordered it in both the wine and ivory color, but will only be keeping one. I love the wine, but wonder if it will date more quickly. The ivory is timeless, but is that a non issue since the bow is a trend? It may all come down to fit b/c only the wine was available in my size in petite.

I really loved the green color but I know green is hard to work into my wardrobe.

What do you think? Trendy item so I should pick the trendy color? or more classic item so I should pick the more classic color?

eta: There may be a better word than "trend" for what I'm trying to describe here. I know bow blouses have been going strong for a few years now, but do they have more than a couple more left in them?

The wine is timeless if it's YOUR colour. Never worry about a colour being off trend. Sure, deep reds are trending now - so there is lots of it in stores. But colours that flatter your complexion are always in style.

This style of blouse does not date. It's a retro classic.

I don't know. I think burgundy is pretty classic too. It is just trendy sometimes also. Ditto for pussy bows. They keep cycling around. But with ivory never, ever looking dated at all, that is probably your best bet if longevity is what you're looking for.

Thanks, ladies. I'm loving burgundy and oxblood and all the deep reds right now, but they also give me 80's flashbacks which is why I'm worried about them looking dated. I guess as long as their not in a duck print with navy and emerald green they will be timely.

Both wine and bow blouses are classic. They cycle in and out as trends but are always in fashion.

I plan to buy burgandy this year because it works so well with my wardrobe and has been difficult to find the last few years.

You may want to consider keeping both if it is possible, they are worth the investment!

I wore bow blouses exactly like thes in the 80's but found that even when fashion had moved on, there was always a place for the classic color. Once they wore out, I was unable to replace them because they were no longer on trend. They always made me feel 'pretty' and wore them whem when I needed a pick-me- up.

I really love both colors and the bow - I would pick the one that made me feel best, no matter which one I'm sure you will be wearing your bow blouse for many more seasons.

I'm glad you all support my decision to snap up this lovely blouse. I came across it in my real simple magazine. When I checked the Talbots' website it wasnt there. I was so desperate I started googling and somehow it is in fact on the site, but only if you link straight in. Odd marketing indeed! If anyone else is interested, it's 20% off right now.
