Hi all, some of you asked for a followup on the Botox treatments for migraines. I had my first treatment one month ago. I have tried pretty much everything there is to offer. I felt this was pretty much a last resort after 35 years of migraines.

The treatment itself was fairly quick and consisted of 39 points of injection to the head, neck and shoulders. More was injected on my migraine side. I did not really have any side effects from it other than some mild bruising on the upper forehead. It was a bit uncomfortable but not nearly in the category of migraine pain.

I usually have approximately 10 migraines per month and about 10 headaches. Each of those 10 migraines were major and impacted work and home life, and had to be treated. I only mention headache numbers because they want to know this when they assess you as a Botox candidate.

I have had 3 migraines this past month which needed treatment (an abortive and pain medicine). ONLY 3. I have had the same number of headaches.

The neurologist recommends two treatments 3 months apart for a good trial.
My feeling at this point is that it is worth considering. Added bonus: fewer forehead wrinkles

Fingers crossed !
