Boston peeps: what the....?!??

I have spent more time shoveling since I got here than in the entire winter at home. Flights cancelled, buried under, can't even drive. I need to go back where it's not snowing!

Yeah, it's been truly ridiculous. I think we've had more snow days this year than I've ever had in more than 15 years of living here. And it's just like for some reason this time around nothing is functioning. Like, snow is supposed to end tonight but the entire subway and train system is shut down for another whole day tomorrow.

My sister was here last week and flew back to CA yesterday. Luckily her flight managed to leave!

At least we have learned our lesson and have decided to pay for garage parking for our car during snowstorms. WELL worth the money.

I was thinking the same as Dimity and vainly trying to imagine the frustration and discomfort of living with snow.

ocean effect snow……yes, my mom sent pictures of her deck sunday morning (about a foot of snow) and yesterday afternoon, (about 3 feet), and i'm not sure when she will be able to open the sliders.

Diana, my flight has been cancelled twice! The house we are in has ceiling leaks for ice damming. We have shoveled and shoveled. I don't remember the T ever being shut down except in '78! What gives? It is a lot do snow though...

Una, any luck with your flight yet?

I went to work today. I had some things I had to do at lab, was going stir crazy, and the shuttle bus was actually running on schedule. There are very few people here though. On the up side, it was the lightest traffic in weeks!

Harvard is officially closed. J's law firm (and many other companies) is NOT, which is kind of terrible because the staff have to come in or else use up one of their vacation days (the lawyers can work at home but staff are not allowed to).

It will be a memorable winter for folks on the East Coast, that's for sure!

Seriously, Una, I am about to lose my mind...and I LIKE snow. My son, who is having a really hard time with anxiety has missed FIVE therapy appointments due to the snow. And today, my husband was on our roof because our roof was leaking. We had 3-4 inches of ice and nearly a foot of snow on our roof.

Though it was funny today when the governor said during a press conference : " I never imagined that I would have to say the following as governor : please shovel your roofs. "

Getting around is nearly impossible. UGH !!

Stay safe and I hope you can get out of here by Thursday.

Una! I hope you get out of there soon! I have been on the West Coast for work, and every time I call home I get a report of another foot of snow. Seriously, it is a CRAZY winter. Hope you can get out, and I can get back in. I hear more snow is on the way.

It is a crazy winter! It's not as bad here in Albany, NY as it is in Boston, but it's still wacko. We've used up all our snow days at school. We had a storm a week ago that dumped 16 inches on us and then a repeat performance exactly one week later with another 16 inches. Driving is crazy as you just can't see around all the snow banks.

Diana, my son had an appointment at Children's yesterday and we spent 9 1/2 hours on the road !!! It was INSANE. Mass Ave from the symphony to BU med was a 1 hour and 48 min. ride. UGH !

Just got home last night after being rescheduled 4 times! And guess what - it's snowing. But wow, what a winter Boston has had. I don't remember the T ever being closed except for the storm in '78 but I may not have been paying attention...

DD at Boston College is walking to campus and having some adventures. She calls me daily on her walks back home to keep her spirits up during her challenges. Some days she's had class despite no clear pathways and even the trains and buses not running... A lot of complaints from Grad students and emails sent....Just happy she is reaching out for emotional support and even using her IPhone to Facetime with my youngest so we go for walks in the snow with her...A huge difference from here where snow is rare....

Welcome home, Una. Four re-schedules is brutal. This is the craziest winter since '78 and even then it wasn't back to back storms.

I am in that area too. I have not gotten to work on time all week because the commuting is so bad! I use public transit, and I fear I am going to slip or fall and break my neck on one of the many unshoveled sidewalks, or get hit by a car while walking in the street in the dark due to impassable sidewalks. I am so ready for winter to end.

Diana, you gotta do what you gotta do.... plus we had snacks, podcasts, drinks. We even stopped at a bookstore for a 30 mins. break. : )

OMG, my heart goes out to them all.... I would totally , freaking lose it! Isabel, you are such a strong, amazing lady.....but I wish I could whisk you away from all this (((hugs))) You, and ANYONE please pm me anytime you want to scream/vent, etc
