Boots with purple and camelish - edited with new pics

So I brought home some new boots yesterday that I hope will work with skirts/dresses. Should I have a wild hair and decide to actually wear the combination out of the house it is a totally new look for me. The camel/purple combination sounded nice in my head but does it work with this translation? I know my browns are not a true camel. The shirt is the closest to camel that I have and may be too casual, but what do I know? I threw on a belt and voila - fail or adequate, what do you think?

I definitely like it with the belt! It really ties in the boots and makes it look cohesive.

I really like the boots with the skirt but there is something missing to my eye with the blouse. Do you have a darker topper jacket you can toss over everything to tie in with the boots?

Perfect boots they look like a great fit. I love the way the belt ties in with the boots but I agree with ceit I think you need something else darker up top. Perhaps a dark scarf or jacket? X

Love the way the skirt makes a huge colour statement, yet the top, your hair and the boots sandwich it with calm. Well done!

RunnerRae, Ceit and Louise, thanks for the suggestions. I would not have thought of the darker topper (the scarf maybe) - thanks! I'll add more pics tomorrow, but off the top of my head I have olive or navy and I suspect the olive will look better? In olive one is a long ATL sweater and the other is a short linen jacket. Navy is the Gap academy blazer.

I do have a dark scarf with the right colors but I think the pattern may clash with the print of the top. I'll give that a whirl too though.

Smashing outfit! I think the purple and camel*ish go perfect. They are two of my four capsule colors, abandoned tho they may be. I love the gradation effect from top to bottom, colorwise. I think the outfit works with and without the belt.

The collarless top is a big win with me. I'm big on them. I think they're fresh and modern.

It has been fun discovering styling opportunities (MaryK) for this skirt. Pre YLF I wouldn't have even considered it. Found it for $25 at Nordstrom Rack and it is turning into quite the versatile treasure. Thanks YLF!

Thanks Rachylou! I do need to wear a cami under this top though. The neckline is low and loose and I can't lean over for fear of an oops!

Great boots! Fabulous neutral colour that you can wear with almost everything! And that skirt looks fantastic on you - both fit and colour.

Great boots! I like the way you've styled this outfit, the purple really looks fab with the neutrals. You could also wear gray, white, cream on top for more neutrals action. And if feeling gutsier, I like the idea of a much darker plum or navy on top :}

Thanks Shannon and Aida. I'm hoping to have many opportunities to wear this skirt. It took me a couple of tries to get the right boots but I think these are the ticket.

I like this combination of color. I would never have thought it but it does work. I like the belted version best. I think this is quite a creative pairing. What jacket would you add if needed?

Deborah, I've added some more pictures - scarf, jacket and sweater.

I don't love the pattern of the scarf with the shirt, I think they are too similar in size. Do the jacket or scarf improve the look at all?

Oh, and the boots have some cute lacing at the top in the back. My new photos turned out so dark I don't think the detail shot is worth posting.
