Something I've been looking for sort of passively the last few months is a pair of feminine looking black ankle boots with a low/no heel. It's staple that I've somehow been missing all this time - mostly I've been getting by on my combat boots. So a couple days ago, I came across the Harrow Boot from Rag and Bone. It's a lot more expensive than I was thinking about shelling out for, and I was worried about the heel being too high, so I'd mostly put it on my list to keep an out for but stopped thinking about it. But yesterday evening, I ran across someone at a holiday party wearing them, and she said that they were incredibly comfortable, which of course led me to going to Barney's today to try them on. They're definitely really comfortable, and the heel height doesn't seem to be a problem at all. I'm now thinking about asking for my parents to subsidize them as a Christmas gift, but I have a couple of questions/points of angst first:
1) The boot is incredibly narrow in the front, which doesn't work super well with my broad feet. I end up needing a 9.5 (they say to size up half a size, and I usually wear 8-8.5), and my heel ends up slipping a bit in them. Because of how narrow the front is, I probably can't wear socks of reasonable thickness with them. They're still comfortable, and if I put insoles or heel grips in them, they work better, but I'm wondering if it's worth spending that much money if they're not perfect.
2) What color should I get? I had planned on going with the black pair, as a more versatile, every day boot, but the blue is gorgeous. I generally think of blue as fairly versatile, but I tend to wear a lot of black, and I'm concerned that they won't go well with an all black outfit. The two shoes are also slightly different, and I like the slightly smaller and rounder toe cap of the blue a bit better. You can see the difference between the two in the third picture below.
So, basically, do you think I should get them? And if so, which color?
