Boots - what makes a good collection

Now we are moving into fall and winter I am pulling out my boots and assessing things. Here we have a few months for non winter boots and then we are full bore into slush and snow. That requires a completely different boot wardrobe.
I have photographed my current selection of boots and would love to see what you ladies have in your closet. Of course I am a lemming....
Note: cognac cowboy boots I don't wear. I keep them because they were an anniversary gift.

I love boots and can't wait until it's officially *boot weather* here. I don't have any ankle boots as of yet, but I have 5 pairs of knee highs (and nearly knee highs) and 1 mid calf - all in black, brown and cognac. I wear them with dresses and skirts all winter. We rarely have snow, so all of my boots are *decorative*.

I am not-so-secretly hoping Una will photograph hers!

Rae's collection would be pretty exciting, too.

And Ceit's!!

As for me, I have nothing but booties, booties, booties.

1. SE snake Pettys
2. Report Marks (but I only wear those in the early fall -- once it gets cooler they are not good).
3. DV Joust dark taupe/ light brown bootie
4. Stuart Weitzman black chelsea boot.
5. Zara navy pointy toed bootie.
6. Donald Pliner pointy toe bronze bootie (dressy).
7. Munro Robyn cranberry bootie.
8. Blundstone chisel toe chelsea boot for gearish stuff.

Jeepers. Do you think I have enough? I don't! I could still use more!

I do have my 6 year old stretch Franco Sarto knee high boots, plus my leaky Clark's knee highs and my consigned and not comfortable Timberlands as well. But really. They are not great.

The hunt is on!

Von what a wonderful selection of boots! I am always impressed by those who can incorporate brown and black since I just can't seem to nail it.
Suz - well I don't think I have enough so by that math, neither do you :). Are you still on the hunt for the tall boot?
I am fingers crossed on Rae, Una and Ceit, as well as all the others who we hope will share.

flat heel knee high (purchased last year, and hardly worn, so no more high ones)
4 pairs of ankle -and or booties-1 about 1 1/2 inch heel tan/beige suade, 1 about the same in black leather, 1 about 2 inch heel booties that I love, 1 black leather wedge ankle boots-new, not worn yet, 1 pair of brown dressier almost mid calf that I have had for ages, and haven't worn for a while, as they have squared off toe, but are like new and will wear them this winter, and an old pair of very comfy black leather of workhorse boots that I will get more mileage out of this winter. Want to purchase some lace up brown leather, but no can find what I want..

I have them, but seem to keep moving south for the winter when I would wear them. Sigh. I only brought Frye's #5 and black patent Sporto's #8 with me.

EDIT: I do also have blue fake Uggs and Sorel's for winter snow and North Face hikers.

Oldmsthrifty sounds like you have it all covered. I did not include my winter boots - I am going to photograph those later tonight.

Oh, boots! Here are mine. I would like to replace the brown ones and the grey buckle motos I would like to upgrade.

2 -- Camper Spiral (thinking of retiring these)

Tall or mid calf boots- black leather and black suede, dark brown cowboy boots

Plus gear black snow boots

Booties- red, turquoise, silver, python, burgundy, gray leather, black and gray suede/leather, navy leather, black quilted leather, black leather with gold zip, black suede lace up wedge, black suede lace up heeled, plain black leather

Plus gear rain booties in navy and snow booties in black

Shooties- gray suede, navy suede, black leather, black suede

And maybe a couple of more that I've forgotten. I will be getting them all out this weekend.

I am in boot heaven reading this;)

I'm at work but will pop back later with pics. I have really "developed" my boot capsule. I have even bought booties with Spring in mind;). Summer is very hot otherwise I would wear them thru summer too;)

I actually thought of photographing my boots yesterday! Now I have to do it! I am amazed at some of the boot collections here though. Mine is a true winter grouping. I knew Rae, Ceit and a few others would be competition but Nicole D., you are a dark horse!

Doing somethin unprecedented... Posting pics of my boot collection that are not going up on my blog until tomorrow.... YLF advance showing!!!

Frist up: booties and shooties- 2 grey, 2 black , 1 brown and red (know they are squared toed, but not ready to give them up...)

Next- I buy in mutliples, remember... Kathy Van Zeeland faux suede knee highs with 3 inch heels in Brown, Navy and Grey.

A trio of leather knee highs with smaller heels for comfort! Brown , Black and the newest,not yet worn Burgundy.

And last but certainly not least, the flats..
Dark Brown, Twiggy London fur lined Black, Black (newest to replace ones worn out last year) Cognac and one loney cowboy style for a girl from VA.

Here goes my collection. It's still a work in progress but I do have a few gems.
1. Forever zebra striped, Rampage, mix no 6
2. Harley Davidson, Altima, Steve Madden
3. Wanted, Bed Stu, Fergie command
4. Crown Royal, Beartraps, Aldo, Beartraps
5. Ugg, Crown Royal, Ugg, Ugg (I know a lot of you have a poison eye for these, but they do have their place like my job where no hardwear is allowed)
I feel like I'm missing a few and I feel like I have a lot of brown for my cool colored wardrobe. I would wear them with neutrals and jeans though. They were the result of thinking that I needed to expand my shoes beyond black. I wear the grey fergie boots and my navy cons so much much more.

That was fun, Glory! But oh no, it's shameful. I forgot another pair - of round-toe grey shooties. Good for all day wear. So... 23 (!)

If Nicole D comes back and sees this... what are the caramel booties with ankle strap?

Last year I challenged myself to wear all my boots. I had 13 pairs, plus my snow boots (Sorel Sorelia Earharts) and my rubber rain boots (rarely worn as not very comfy). Since then, I've replaced the red Portlandia booties with my red Fluevogs, and the platform clog booties with the new EF platform booties, but my number is still 13, not counting the snow and rain boots.
