Booties/shooties/Chelsea boots?

I've been searching for a pair of cognac booties that I can wear with pants and skirts/dresses since last season, so I was happy to find and purchase the Betsy Munro booties at the NAS. (photos 1-3)

At least I thought I was happy......until this season's JCrew Chelsea boot caught my eye. In my heart of hearts, a Chelsea boot look was what I'd had in mind for a cognac bootie...I just hadn't been able to find a pair I loved last year.

The JCrew booties are just the right color and heel height. Next to them, the Munro Betsys suddenly look stumpy-fying and unfashionable to my eye--especially with the skirt-- and I'm thinking of sending them back in favor of the Chelseas. But I'm also not sure....what do you think?

It's a conundrum because I like the Betsys better with the pants and the Chelsea boots better with the skirt. Hmmm.

Both booties are lovely Nancy but the J Crew are really lovely! If it were me, I would buy the j Crew pair and sell the Munro Bestsys on Ebay:). I just love how streamlined the JC ones are and they look fab with your skirts and IMHO are a very modern sleek look.

With jeans there's not a huge difference, but with skirts I DO prefer the Chelsea -- but that's the style of bootie I wear with skirts so I could be biased.

I absolutely LOVE the Chelsea boots Nancy and prefer the shape to the Munroe shorties. They look fab with the skirt.

Thanks so much for weighing in so quickly..and for confirming what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure I was just settling for the Munro Betsys because they were the right color..and they were booties! So, in my mind I thought "check!" But I wasn't really excited about them. They felt a little schoolmarmish and wrong for my style.

Deborah, you had me at streamlined! That is exactly the kind of adjective I want to be associated with my style. I actually haven't worn the Munro Betsys so I can still return them to Nordstrom with no worries.

Donna and Shannon, I agree. The more I look at the photos the more I agree that there isn't much difference (except that the Chelseas look more streamlined) with the pants, but that there is a big difference with the skirt.

I'm thinking Chelseas for the win.

I loved the shooties originally. But there is no competition here! Chelseas are miles ahead for your elegant style.

Thank you all so much for weighing in! You helped me prevent a shopping error. PPP takes real commitment, but you all have helped me stay on track and buy what I really want....not something that's "close enough."

The Munros will be packaged up and sent back. The Chelsea boots are in my closet.
