Booties w/dress?-yay or nay

Ok, so todays post made me give this a whirl, although I have tall black boots on standby....the biggest issue for me is my bare legs look bad (veins, age spots etc. etc. etc.) so what can I do about that? Is nude hose a "no-no"? It seems the lighter booties are a little more limiting, I don't think tights would work with these either...what do you bootie experts think? This is all a little too intimidating for mwah!

Any and all advise very much appreciated.

I like both boots, but I'm not knowledgeable at all about that. I do vote for the scarf.

yay to every one of the looks,the booties make the outfit lighter and that is the only reason I slightly prefer it, they will work with nude micro fishnets .
I also like the simplicity without the scarf but with the scarf is an interesting pattern mixing.

I think the booties are more trendy and up-to-date-looking, but both look good.
You've got the long slender legs to wear this look well!

I like the scarf, too.
I'm curious to hear what others say about nude hose. My pale, blotchy legs are one deterrent against me trying the bare legs with booties look.
Maybe nude fishnets?

I think with the boots *and* scarf, it's looking quite wintry, just a little heavy for fall. So if you settle on the boots I'd lose the scarf.
I love the dress with the booties, with or without scarf. I don't have hose advice but will be curious what people suggest. I hear ya btw, the veins are a problem for me since my mid-thirties. My mother STILL has great legs. No fair!

I actually like the booties best. The tall boots look good also, but if I have to choose, I choose the booties.

I think both look great but I do prefer #2. I think you can definitely wear those booties, I find the style very flattering on you. The reason I prefer the boots to the booties is that I think the tall boots fill out more "space" and help balance the outfit more. With the booties, the outfit looks a bit top heavy to me.

I'm still having a hard time with the booties and leg showing. I see it on others and I like it, but when I try it............. I hate it one me. I wore some the other day, but with black booties / black tights.

I think all of the looks are fabulous but have a slight preference for the booties. I think as Celia said, it is because the booties make it lighter. I also like the pattern mixing with the scarf. All are great variation on the outfit.

I like both boots on you, and I like it better with the scarf. I read a post by Angie from about a year ago where she said she wore nude hose because it was cold out, so if she wears them, it must be OK

This looks lovely with both the booties and the taller boots, but I love it more with the booties. I second the nude fishnets if you want to give your legs a bit of "polish". Looks fab Carole!

Love it with the booties, but without the scarf. However, if you add a blazer, I would love the scarf. Does that make sense?

The tall boots look good too but the booties are just that much more modern.

I am SO glad that you posted these outfits, Carole. I couldn't for the life of me understand why you wouldn't wear booties with visible legs. You wear the vibe with panache - and here is the proof!

I have a slight preference for no scarf, but both versions are splendid

Carole, you have fantastic legs! There is no reason at all why you shouldn't wear booties with bear legs, love this look on you (nude hose will look great too). I also adore how you've paired this dress with the striped top, I vote no scarf here to let those cute stripes do all the talking.

Honestly, I have never understood the "nude hose = frumpy" idea. Provided that they are actually nude for you, and not that sickly "suntan" color, I don't get what the problem is. So if it makes you feel warmer or more comfortable, I say get some sheer hose and just wear them. Odds are nobody will notice unless they get right up next to you, anyway.

Cocolion~I get what you are saying about the scarf w/jacket. I ended up adding the scarf over my raincoat (it was so chilly today) but took it off inside!

I like 2 and 3. I'd personally need nude hose of some sort (fishnets or real nude hose - yes I wear them my legs are a mess and they just feel better to me)

All of these look great Carole:). I love the bootie versions though. A little more modern edge I think. Unless its particularly warm I wear nude hose.

Hi! I say you look great in every pic but, if I was deciding I would do number 2. Sexy, trendy, flattering ...just great! I do want to say that if you added a bolder colour to the se (maybe the scarf ) t it would look even more fashionable. Have a great day!
