booties and jeans - over or under?

OK, so I have these beautiful Donald J. Pliner boots that I got at the Nordstrom Anniversay Sale. I've worn them several times and I love the look and feel of them.

Recently I've been rolling my jeans up to the top of the boots. My jeans aren't skinny enough to fit inside the boots without creasing. Does this look OK, or should I roll the jeans down and wear them over the boots?

They will fit over the boots, but just barely and it stretches the bottom of the jeans out in a way that I am not sure is cute (see pic two).

I think they look adorable rolled up to meet at the top of the boot! Does this make it weird when you sit down - or is it okay?

Oh, sorry..was I supposed to be looking at the booties? They are pretty amazing looking, too! Gorgeous, gorgeous colour and I can see why you would want to show them off!

Sara asks a good question - how is it for comfort when you roll them? I think they look good either way. But I do know what you mean. My Report booties do this to my white skinnies....I CAN get the jeans over, but I think it looks a bit odd. Meanwhile, they don't tuck in that well, either.

Do you have straight leg jeans? They might work perfectly, just skimming over and still feeling slim.

Or wear the booties with skirts?

They are OK when I sit. I do need to make sure that they aren't hitching up when I stand up. These are both the same style (Diana skinnies) and I'd classify them as straight-leg.

I prefer the unrolled version. #2 is a KILLER look to my eye!

I look forward to seeing more of your stylings with these boots Jenava! I have them too, but plan to wear them either tucked with skinnies or leggings or under straight leg jeans (like #2) or a boot cut. I like the rolled version, but prefer #2.

I have this same issue with some olive boots and my white jeans. I try and tuck and it never works to my eye, so I forced them (barely) over.

And further more, I like creased jeans tucked into boots. I think it looks updated and modern.

Well, it sounds like you can't go wrong: they look good rolled, they look good over, they look good tucked...

When you 'force' them over the boot and sit down, doesn't the pant leg ride up the boot shaft, then need to be manually tugged back down when you stand up?

Or maybe that's just me because my legs take up ALL available space inside my pant legs :-\

I have this thing against 'adjustments' everytime I sit down/stand up. I already find myself adjusting my tummy/waistband too often!

You know, it often happens that when I look at something first thing in the morning I have a different opinion than if I check again later on in the day. I think in the morning I was really just looking at your feet and now I noticed how 2 actually makes such a nice complete outfit, especially with the lip color. I really like both ways.

I wonder if the BF trend will get people on the street rolling their jeans to the top of their booties like this Jenava. It sure is practical and makes sense. I have booties that I thought I would wear with jeans but the cuffs of the jeans didn't cooperate very well. I think it's a common dilemma. #2 *looks* nice, but not if you have to constantly re-adjust all day long. Life is too short!

Hm, well, food for thought. MNSara, this is the reason I chose to roll instead of force over the boot; when I stand I have to make sure and adjust. But, it's not too bad, and I will *try* to tuck and see if I like it, per Angie's recommendation. Thanks, all! I'm very glad for the input.

I prefer the cuffed look to the over-the-boots one, just because the jeans look a smidge too snug. If they were an inch or so wider and could glide over the boot and not be a hassle when you are moving about, then that would be fab. But, I still like the cuffed look, especially when the cuffs are the same color as the jeans (vs. a much lighter cuff), and I also like a tucked look :). Like 'em all!!

Interesting. My white jeans are the Dianas, too. I can wear them pulled over my Reports, but just barely. The good part is that they DON'T need adjusting when I stand up again....which surprises me. I thought they would. But as a matter of fact, they stay better than my usual jegging-type skinnies do. I am constantly having to adjust those ones because of the width of my calves. as per MNSara's comment.

Ultimately, I think you can do no wrong with these booties as long as you wear them! They are so beautiful.

Jenava I love the boots! I am not as keen on #2 as some, to my eye the jeans fit just a little too firmly over the jeans and I would find it a bother if I found I had to be adjusting them. I do like #1 amd I also like the combo of the boot with white jeans.

I like them both ways (super fab booties), but agree the white jeans look a bit snug over the boots which would make me think you need to adjust them too when you sit/stand.
