My very cheerful UPS man delivered a couple of booties from Zappos this evening. While I can usually count on Clarks to meet my comfort and quality goals, I'm not sure these look good.

Pair #1 - Brown booties to be worn with dresses and pants for work - look at that gaposis. They have to go back, right?

Pair #2 - Purplish/brown flats, which I planned to wear with my jeans, most of which are slim bootcuts. First of all, are they cute or ugly? I can't decide. If they're not deemed hideous, are the round toes bad with bootcuts? Pointy would be better, right?

I like them both. If you had them in your closet, I certainly wouldn't have you purge them, and I have black and grey boots like these myself, but I'm not sure they're fab enough for you.

Try on the second pair with your bootcuts first and see what you think.

Thanks, Beth Ann. Those are lovely suggestions. The heels on these boots are a little too high for me for everyday wear, but they are pretty.

yeah, i'd be sending these back for the gaposis (too funny).2nd pair: Undrer boot cuts the fun detail is hidden so yeah maybe not the best solution.

Amy, I think of your style as much more refined than either of these booties. I've seen boots similar to the first pair, but without such visible top-stitching, and a pointier toe. . .somewhere. Zappos? I forgot if it had an acceptable heel height. The second pair has a very young, casual funky vibe that I don't see in you; my image is more artsy feminine. I don't know if that makes sense. Perhaps most importantly, I don't think either would look very good with work dresses or skirts, although they would look fine with jeans. Sorry.

Sigh. So frustrating, isn't it, when the brands that FIT us don't make the styles we love?

Glad you are returning them, but hope you find something better soon.

Have you tried Ecco or josef Seibel?

Hmmmmm....sounds like you've made up your mind but it might be useful to see how they look with an outfit rather than just on their own. Sometimes that gives a better perspective you know?

Shannon, you're right that it's easier to judge with an outfit, but I just don't like these booties. I wanted to like them when they showed up, but after sleeping on it, I know I just wouldn't be happy with them. When I find something else, I'll be sure to post with outfits

I kinda like both, but maybe they're not great enough.....like the seams on the first, and like the overall shape, color and buckle of the second. I'd probably keep the second ones if you were keeping one for sure.

I do like them, Amy, but agree that they're not "you." Something sleeker and more modern-classic like those links above is probably what would make you happy. The others are too amorphous and boho and won't cut it.

Yes, the gaps on the first are a little too much, I think.

That is so funny about the second pair because I kept staring at them thinking, I love them - I don't - but I love them-well.....

I really like the scrunching, but I am not sure about the toe either. Is there something with the scrunching that is less rounded ? Though I bought something similar to the following ( mine are also Dansko, ) and I LOVE. Could you do a heel ?

I think I'm going to first need to invest in longer jeans, then I'll be happy to sport higher heels. Right now, my jeans are too short even barefoot. Argh.
