Bootie discomfort

Very late to the bootie party here, but something snapped last week and I bought some as part of a "second pair free" ( eta actually second pair half price) sale when I bought some sandals ( some very dodgy girl math was going on there!)
Any way I have mostly been please with them comfort wise - they can even fit my orthotics.

The only disdvantage is that when I sit down, if my legs are at an angle - like on the leg rest under my desk, the top digs in the the front of my leg.

Is this just something to get used to?

Ooh, not if you're at the desk all day. Won't it drive you crazy? Can you slip them off without your OH&S person getting twitchy?

I never have this problem so I won't be help. Does it only happen when you are sitting with your legs at an angle? Can't you adjust the position of your legs to relieve the pressure? Are you wearing socks? Socks could help.

Yes Bianca I am wearing socks. I think the top of the boots is higher than them though.

They might loosen/soften with wear, otherwise you might just not be able to wear them with your foot at an angle like that

Just thinking... could you take them to a cobbler to have that specific area stretched just a wee bit? I have had to do that with some of my shorter boots.

aggh, no!! That would drive me batty. Are they leather? If so they might soften up a bit with wear. Could you wear a sturdy, tall sock underneath to prevent discomfort, or a bit of moleskin maybe?

My new booties do that, too, except I feel it when I walk. They've already gotten softer with wear and I don't notice it as much, but my shins do protest when I think about wearing them...

Hmmm, I have not had boots "dig" in. It did take me a bit of wearing to get used to them touching me.

Are they tight at the ankle or very fitted? If not, I worry stretching them will make them too big at the ankle.

Is returning an option? Life is too short for booties that are biting your leg all day! However, I love their tough/cool look!

Sorry for not replying earlier. A very busy weekend and a terrible headache got in the way.

Thistle - they are no tight around the ankle

Parkmommychic - no I can't return them. And they only cut in my my legs are at an angle. If they are 90 degrees to the ground they are fine!

Anne, if they are leather, I think they will loosen up. I recently bought a pair of ankle booties with a stiff top (leather and calfskin), and when I would drive a car, holy cow! The pain from the top digging into my leg was intense. But after wearing them a bit, they are very soft, and I don't notice any discomfort now.

They are nice boots.

When seated at your desk, are you sitting 'correctly'. Can you move the footrest so that your feet are at a still comfortable but different angle?

They look like terrific boots, Anne. Sorry about the discomfort, though. It appears the shaft may be higher than on some booties -- this may be the reason that they're bugging you. But I expect they'll soften up with wear. If it's a friction thing, moleskin could help -- you could put it on your leg or on the boot inside. If it's a pressure thing due to the angle of your leg, you might just have to sit differently for a while.

They will be great for next Winter too Anne- I thought I was late buying mine a month ago- but I have worn them more than any other shoe since then!
