Boot tree recommendation

I need to get some boot trees and all I can find are plastic. My concern is these will leave an odor if the boots are damp. What do you guys use?

I used rolled up magazines. If they get icky, they're easy to replace. Sometimes if a pair of boots comes with a long cardboard insert in the leg, I'll keep that and use it as a tree.

I use the plastic kind, Deb, and I haven't had any problems with odor at all. But if I'm wearing my boots out in the rain I also try to wipe the outside down before I store them in the closet.

I've also used the methods that Diana used, or when I had a surplus of paper or plastic bags, I would stuff them into one long bag that I'd roll and tape into a boot-shaped tube.

On one pair of boots I use glass bottles (empty San Pellegrino bottles, tho' my sister has sand or something in the ones she uses). They are tough (never had one break) and can go in nose-first or bottom-first. On my other pair of boots (slimmer fit), I use packing paper that I rolled up into a fitted shape and stuff in there. I don't have odor problems with either solution. Good luck. It does seem like there would be a more elegant product for this purpose.

I have been using rolled up magazines, but I don't like it as a long-term solution. I have read of cutting up swimming pool noodles into lengths that fit each pair of boots, and I think I will try that in the future.
