Boot-off: which is better?

I am considering lace-up boots to replace my basic black boots, as long as they really zip up for on/off ease. Is that a bad idea? I can't find anything similar to my old ones, which are Rockports but surprisingly cute and versatile.

What do we think of these two pairs?

The first ones have gold hardware, which I'm not sure I love, but otherwise they are pretty similar.

Neither of these look like knee-high boots to me, at 11" and 10" high. Is this what you want, a calf-height boot?

They both seem similar to me, with the the Farylrobin being a little chunkier and funkier than the other one.

I love the first pair - love the combo of the brass hardware with the tougher looking lug sole. They remind me a bit of gussied-up Doc Martens. Don't know why they are called knee-high though, as 11" is more like midcalf.

I am totally tempted to order them for myself... but I already have really similar boots.

I prefer the first ones too, I actually quite like the gold hardware, makes them more interesting.

Agree that these aren't really "knee-high", even on stubby me. My black boots measure 11 inches but they are a great height for me, and I've got two pairs of funky knee high boots that are great for skirts but not for pants.

The second pair should be the Vince Camuto Fantasa boot.

I like pair #2 now that I can see them! It might be the silver vs. gold hardware that pushed me over to that side.

LOVE the first pair for funky and edgy. The second pair is more sleek. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

The first pair is more funky (LOVE the brass hardware), the second more classic (LOVE the toe detail). I can see you getting good wear out of both. So then my question to you would be, how many "funky" pairs of boots do you own, and how many "classic"? Whichever would fill the gap, go with that one.

Both are great, but it depends on the look you want - the first are more rugged/industrial and the second more refined. I like both, but I think the first pair fit your style persona a bit better.

These will be a substitute for my everyday boots, which I wear with everything unless I am full-on formally dressed for court. As long as the first pair can do that, I slightly prefer them because of the hardware, except that it's gold tone. So the second pair may be more versatile. I've ordered both (on SALE at Zappos, wheeee!), so I will be modeling them soon, assuming they fit. Thanks!
