Dear YLF,

I hope nobody takes my girl card but I don't like to shop for shoes or boots.Unfortunately I cannot walk bare feet or wear flats in winter and my shoes are not so much used but abused so it comes a time when boot shopping is required.
I needed some low heeled boots to walk with kids, grocery shopping, going to the coffeshop and other non fancy activities.And I was looking for some not very ornamented boots.
I know, the Petties would be perfect. Sadly they don't fit my feet.
Aldo has this ones:http://www.aldoshoes.com/us/wo.....flokarl/91 that Glory talked about . They are comfy and would do but the gap at the ankle is a bit big and I wanted to wear this with skirts. Also the black color left a bit unenthusiastic and the taupe will be leg shortening if I wear it with dark hose or leggings. Burgundy might be a possibility but will I wear it that much?

They fit and I kind of like the witchy feeling about them.But I lack the genes that allow me to say if they are good to wear with skirts or not.

Are desert boots out of fashion or going to be?If I buy the Naturalizer boots wont this be redundant?

I am sorry if lately I come with more questions than help to this forum but would love some input and guidance with my boot quest.

Too bad on the Aldo ones. Shannon has the Toms that you posted here and I think she quite likes them. Would you consider a combat boot? Here are 2 that might work (Canada based):

Celie, I think the lace up boots would work with skirts. Did you try them on with a skirt? That is often the best way to know for sure.

I think desert boots are sort of a fashion classic. But two black lace up boots might feel a bit redundant to me, yes, although the desert boot does read as more casual and more for pants, I guess.

I love the idea of burgundy and I am wearing my new burgundy booties a lot, for whatever that is worth to you! I don't know how much I'll wear them with hose in winter but I wear them with bare legs (so far) and also with jeans -- they work really well with jeans.

Glory, I didn't discard yet the ALDO ones, but maybe in a burgundy color.
Combat boots are also something to consider, but would they work with skirts?

Suz, I tried the lace up ones with pants and just pulled them up to see how they fit around the ankle, I would wear them with skirts with black hose not bare legs.

If you wear with dark hose I don't see a problem. These are a bit more feminine looking than a combat boot.

It's really tough to find good boots. I sympathize. Also, did not mean to call you "Celie". Silly typos.

Suz I found the name Celie very french and I needed some chic after a very frustrating boot shopping morning.

Oh the burgundy ones are lovely - someone else on the forum purchased them but I cannot remember who. The combat ones I bought feel a bit more refined than the usual and have the little zipper at the back. I ended up buying them last week (oops) because I have coveted them for a couple of months now. They are very comfortable and I thought great with skirts but again depends on what style you are after - casual, refined etc.
