Bookending leather Birks?

What do you think about these? Expensive even here in Germany, but that is probably the perfect leather color to bookend my hair. I'm not sure about the style though. I actually think I had sandals like this as a child.

I prefer this style to the "typical" Birks with the two straps across the top, but I have a poison eye for those type so maybe I'm not the best to answer.

These might stay on your feet better than the other style as well.

I like the idea of bookending, too.

Curious to see what others say as well.

Thanks abc. I have the ones below and the fit is fine... But it's always difficult to repeat the black in an outfit to make them look intentional. I actually like the ones I have best with long slouchy skinny jeans, and less with skirts or dresses. They are alright with shorts too.

I like the lightness of the pair you posted originally. For years I gravitated toward black footwear but I agree with you, even with sandals, they can sometimes read heavy and/or be hard to repeat up top. I think you are on the right track thinking of how this pair could bookend your hair.

Could you get them and try them out and see how you feel? Or are you just toying with the idea at this point, not ready to buy yet?

Bookending shoes are fantastic, I just remember my Oxfords that bookended my hair. They looked good with everything. I could see if one of the stores has them and try them on, but I'm not thinking of buying them right now, they're much too expensive for that and I have other things I need more right now. So more toying with the idea.

I also find that lighter color metallic shoes have the same effect, at least for me (I'm blonde). They go with everything and give that lightness I look for. Could be another option as well.

I had sandals like that as a child!I loved them!

Hm, I am not a fan of this look because it is too close to the "Tivo" style shoes which I find very ugly. I'm going for the Arizona style this year. I have a pair in a similar color (sort of a pearlized dark cream) from last year. I think you can find this color in a more flattering (or at least more trendy...are Birks every really "flattering"?) style.

I too asscociate this style with ones in early childhood and just have a poison eye for it due to that... It didn't help any when one of the men on our Cayman trip wore a pair of white ones and proceeded to act like a child...

I do love the color and find it extremely versatile...

Light metallic sounds also great. Unfortunately the only metallic birks available are non leather options and I don't like those.

I loved them back then too, but I wonder if I could wear them now.

Thanks. I agree that they would be much nicer without the strap in front. This color isn't often available when you want real leather, unfortunately. And I want sandals, not slippers. Everything with a strap between the toes is out too. There is a Tatami model available (#1), but these are even more expensive than the ones I first posted.

They actually have the Arizona in a leather that fits (#2), but I can't really see myself wearing them besides as slippers at home...

Well. I seem to be in the minority here and yes I know that they aren't stylish and attractive BUT I love my Birks. I wear them with shorts, boyfriend jeans and ( yes) comfy cotton skirts when it's too hot and humid in Virginia to move! They are super comfortable and after a day of tight sandals I feel like my feet deserve a break. Having said that, I also enjoy being unpredictable. Going from Okalas to Birks fits the bill nicely. I hope you will give them a chance.

Clearly I am in the minority, but I LOVE the original pair posted here. The light colour is fabulous, and bookending your hair makes them even better. I like that it has the Birk sole but is a less expected style. Although the two-strap might be trendy, I kind of like the idea of taking the trend and twisting it to fit your style instead of interpreting it exactly as seen in ads/photos.

Thanks Angela! I already know that Birks are the only whole day walking sandals that work for me in summer. I have wide and fussy feet and comfortable fashion sandals are hard to find. Just not sure if I want to spend so much money on a second pair and which ones I would get...

I like the idea of the bookending. I also support wearing comfortable shoes and summer puts feet at test like no other season. Waiting for the but ;-)? But, I'm not keen on the style. Too childish and boyish even. I think the sandals you have in black are as beautiful as Birks can get, have you thought of duplicating them just in the more suitable colour for you?

Thanks Ornella. I agree, I do love the color but I don't think I could get over the style. Like you said, it looks childish - I wore even wore similar ones as a child. The ones I have are only available in black and white.

I think the Birks in the original post are very nice and I would buy them if I saw them. I wear my Arizonas all the time (except for work) in warm weather. I am seeing a lot of Birk mimics coming up for Spring and Summer so it seens that comfortable shoes are not only in the horizon but are also trending right now. Trending or not, I will still wear mine and I would wear the ones you are asking about if I found them.

I found the ones I have in a color called Toffee on Amazon, for 38€. Not leather, but I'm tempted to order them.

Just saw that these have the softfootbed. Not sure about that. Another alternative would be the Milano, the Arizonas with the strap in the back, in #2. Or the New York in #3. Same color, both not leather and as cheap as #1. But with the normal insole.
